I used to be on this board a while back but I lost all my info so I reregistered...but I had to come back! I just saw the movie and it was GREAT!!! I'll be honest, I was a little nervous after seeing previews that it was not going to hold up for 90 minutes, but boy. Nickelodeon really stepped up to the plate! Spoiler code on...ye have been warned! Spoiler: (Click here and drag downwards to view) I love DENNIS!!! He's like the Terminator with fins! :biggrin: Plankton and Karen are perfect, as usual. And Plankton succeeds!! :plankton: *gasp*!! Plan Z does the job! Not enough Squidward! I was sure hoping he could escape the evil clutches of Plankton and join the boys in their quest, but to no avail. He does the classic blunder: confront the bad guy and then get yourself turned into a Chumbuckethead zombie. Well...half the classic anyway. Everyone except Spongebob and Patrick pretty much get sidelined, but it works. It works to a tee. Oh, and wait to the end of the credits...it's not much, but, well, it's there. I look forward to other reviews.

Ok anyway I finally saw it today! I knew a moday night would be perfect and sure enough it was pretty dead with only about two other families in the theater. I knew better than to go on opening weekend and from the sounds of it I was right. It was pretty bad. Good more money for the success of the film. :krabs: I'm gonna try to remember as much as I can about this film. Here's my review. Spoiler: (Click here and drag downwards to view) It starts with live action pirates on a ship that find tickets to the movie then go to the theater to watch it. Then the scene in the trailer where Spongebob has to save the day from a Krabby patty that didn't have any cheese. Unfortunately turns out it was just a dream in which he was manager. But Mr. Krabs has built a second Krusty Krab the Krusty Krab 2 right next door to the first one. SpongeBob is sure he'll finally get promoted to manager since after all he's won all employee of the month awards a reference to the episode. Unfortunately for him it turns out that he doesn't get the promotion and makes a fool of himself in front of the crowd after Mr. Krabs announced that Squidward would be the manager because he was more mature and Spongebob is just a kid. This is the problem SpongeBob has to wrestle with through the whole film, the problem of being just a kid. Meanwhile Plankton is jealously watching the celebration and ready to give up because he's gone through all the plans A-Y. Karen reminds him that Z is actually the last letter in the alphabet and he's got one last evil plan left. He heads off to King Neptune's palace and steals the royal crown then frames Krabs making it look like Krabs had stolen the crown. During this time SpongeBob is at Goofy Goobers where he was supposed to meet Patrick to celebrate his promotion that never was. There are a lot of 80s references in this film as the creators were children of the 80s. Goofy Goobers is obviously a take on Chucky Cheese or even the short lived Show Biz. These were popular birthday hang outs for kids in the 80s with cake, pizza, ice cream, games and animatronic animals singing songs on stage. Chucky Cheese had the big mouse while Show Biz had big gorillas. Goofy Goobers theme was peanuts and peanut people. The scene where Sponge and Patrick are eating the giant icecream stacks is priceless!! Patrick easily steals that scene and several others with his great faces. He was gobbling them down and there's one scene were he was serious and bored and it worked so well with all the zany eating poses. They ODed on sugar and they had major hang overs the following morning and had to be thrown out of Goofy Goobers. That scene was very Simpson like with the drunk references. King Neptune had been tipped off that krabs had stolen the crown and was about to toast him when Krabs asked if someone would testify on his behalf. Spongebob appears still looking horribly drunk and lets Neptune know how 'wonderful' Mr. Krabs really is. When the King tries to fry him Spongebob tells him he's not that bad and asks if he can return the crown. Neptune reluctanly agrees after pursation from his daughter Mindy about compasion which may be a reference to the ep where Plankton won SpongeBob in a card game against Krabs. Neptune froze Krabs and gave Sponge six days to get the crwon back. So Sponge and Pat set out to go to Shell City to bring back the crown even though they've been warned it's very dangerous. While the two are gone Plankton succeeds and takes the formula and starts selling his own Krabby Paties. FINALLY! He gets on TV and starts giving out free bucket hats to everyone. He sends out a killer cowboy fish named Dennis to get rid of Sponge and Pat. Patrick and Spongebob drive off in the Patty waggon. Sponge still doesn't have his liscense but he has the excuse that you don't need a liscense to drive a sandwhich. After being made fun of by some hicks at a gas station and having their 'car' stolen the moment they crossed into the next county they make their way to a saloon called the Thug Tug which is a shunken ship. They make a plan to get the key to their car back from the guy that stole it. Patrick would make a distraction and Spongebob would get the key. The two end up in the bathroom where they end up making bubbles out of the hand soap. This is against the rules at the bar. The leader makes everyone line up so they can beat whoever maded the bubble. No one would fess up so he played the Goofy Goober song knowing that a bubble blowing baby wouldn't resist and sing. Lucky for our heros another guy who happened to be a siamese fish, not the fighting fish which I guess is part of the gag but a figsh with two heads, breaks down and starts to sing and he gets beat up instead. The two get the key and get out. Dennis is still hot on their trail. They drive through a huge skeleton graveyard and don't even notice all the bones. Spotting a lady selling ice cream they stop to get some. It turns out to be a trap and the lady is nothing but a frightening lure of a giant angler fish that wants the two for lunch. They drive their car over a gorge jump out in time as their car is devoured and then the angler fish itself is in turn devoured by a wickedly cool looking eel. That is one of the coolest scenes in the film. The two have an emotional break down thinking they can't finish the quest and that eveyone was right about two kids not being able to handle a man's job. Mindi arrives to give them encouragement and fake mustaches. She tricks them into thinking they've been turned into men. There's a great disney parody as she swims around very much like the little mermaid and then Pat and Sponge break into song about being men which is similar to the Be a Man song in Mulan. The two fearlessly leap into the gorge not even bothering to take the stairs that were there and meet up with deep sea monsters. This scene made me think of Rock Bottom and I hoped they'd have some of the Rock bottom characters but unfortunately they didn't. The two eventually win over all the monsters by doing fancy dances and the monsters help them out of the gorge. There's a scene where you see lots of glowing blue lights in the black and this is what it does look like in the deep ocean because of the many bioluminecent creatures. Unfortunately Dennis finds them and rips off their fake kep mustaches. He's about to step on them with spiky shoes but before he can is in turn stepped on by a bigger shoe from the cyclopse which turns out to be a diver in an old fashioned suit. He catches the two and take them to his dark gift shop and puts them in a tank. He catches sea creatures to turn them into suveniers. He places Pat and Sponge under a lamp to dry them out. The situation looks bad. Even the pirates watching the movie are crying. But the tears of our heros save them as it shorts out the lamp and the smoke sets off the sprinklers. The diver is attacked as all the dried out suveniers come back to life. Turns out that the name of his store is Shell City and that's where the crown was. Back in Bikini Bottom Plankton has turned everyone that wore a bucket hat into his zombie minions and is turning the city into his own fortress which huge statue of himself. Squidward got a short scene when he figures out Plankton's plan all on his own. He tries to stop him but can't fight against all the zombies and finally is captured by them. Patrick and Spongebob had been given a bag of air that would return them home when they were ready. Unfortunately when Patrick opened the bag it just flew away without them. That's when David Hasselhoff showed up in time to save them. He let the two climb on his back and like a boat he swam off really fast toward Bikini Bottom. Suddenly a shoe appears from behind them and it's Dennis still stuck to it. He leaps onto David's back and attacks Sponge and Pat. Just when it looks like he's gonna push our heros off David swims under a catamaran and like a train going through a tunnel Dennis is knocked off because he was standing up. YEAY bad guy is gone. With his powerful pectorals David shoots the two down to the Krusty Krab in time to save Krabs from Neptune's wrath. But Plankton arrives and seems to have the upper hand when he throws a bucket head onto King Neptune and puts him under his control. Lucky Spongebob breaks into a song that's very much like 80s rock/metal. Even the video is very 80s with the crazy back grounds and stop motion. He shoots off the bucket hats and frees everyone. Plankton is defeated and Krabs is freed. He finally gets his promotion as manager and the pirates are kicked out of the theater after the credits. This movie was very cool. I loved the humor. For me Patrick stole the show with all the faces he was making and the crush he had on mindy was too funny. Too bad he didn't get the girl though. It was VERY cool to see Squidward stand up for what was right even if it was for the fact that he wouldn't get his paycheck without Krabs around. Too bad he had so little screne time and was captured so easily. He tried. The 80s references were great. As an 80s child myself and in the same generation as Hillenburg I appreciated those jokes. The ice cream scene with Sponge and Pat was awsome. The scene with all the deep sea monsters was great too because there were so many references to real deep sea life and nature documentaries. Once again Hillenbergs knowledge of marine bio added a nice creative touch to the film. Something interesting and a bit of trivia for you all. Spongebob first aired July 17 1999. July 17 is David Hasselhoff's birthday. It's also my birthday. Those of you that were too you may not know but he became famous in the show Knight Rider. You can't go wrong with Pirates and they were halarious. Mixing live action with the animation like the scene with the diver was very well done. The scene where Squidward was riding that funny bike is an inside joke because Roger Bumpass his voice actor rides one of those. My only real complaint was that they made Neptune so ugly. There was no reason to change it from his cool look in Neptune's Spatual. Three were only about 2 families in the theatre, which was awesome, except for that family of fat people that were staring at us, pointing, and whispering to each other... Anyway, my review: Spoiler: (Click here and drag downwards to view) THIS MOVIE WAS PRICELESS! After more than a year and a half of waiting, this was totally worth it! And the possibilities for new episodes after this are endless! The part where Spongebob is hungover on ice cream is brilliant! It reminds me of how my dad used to act when he was drunk! Lots of season 2 references, which impressed me! Although some of the major characters didn't have enough say in the movie. Squidward, Gary, and Sandy said very little, with Sandy only saying 5 words (I, paid, ten, well, and howdy. Those were her lines.) and Gary only saying "Meow Plankton". The pirates were brilliant.
