Mods for Drozd Blackbird magazine for HPA?
Has anyone modded their Drozd Blackbird magazine to handle HPA higher than 1600 psi?

I'm afraid my magazine will open up again, what mods are there that I can do yo reinforce the magazine??

Someone here (or over at MP661k.com) did 2000psi. Man, that's not where I'll ever go!! More than happy with 1600psi. At some point something's gonna fail. Really need to get the 6mm project started soon with a whole newly designed mag head!

Too much pressure that close to my head! Test fire behind a protected barrier multiple times first!!! :smash:

Good point Cam! Advice to noobs-less is more & safer. No need to go beyond 1600. Now if you had a Caselman with a 9mm 124 gr bullet, maybe. But stay safe. Don't get into the arena with experimentation with calibers that could draw the BATF's attention. Not worth it. Stay safe!

Re: Mods for Drozd Blackbird magazine for HPA?
I channeled out the vertical part of the bb feed, and lined it with a piece of stainless steel tubing that used to be an antenna. The bb's fit smoothly, but snugly in that. This tubing will have to split before the mag can, now, and although it's thin, it's reinforced by the plastic mag, and is eventually open to the air. And this seals off those vent holes, too, that was another plus, less loss through the bb feed, now that the feed can take the extra abuse.
Before I just put another bolt through the mag.

Did you have to trim off some plastic on the Blackbird mag to get the tube to fit? I'm thinking of just putting 2 rectangled delrin slabs on both sides of the mag, this will fill the gap between the mag and Drozd frame where the expansion occurs.

Yea, I channeled out the slot pretty good, to make that tube fit. But the bb's slid down that tube so nicely that it seemed like the thing to do at the time. And it works, even reducing the blowby down the bb feed considerably.

Man I think of a standard 150 psi air hose with cleaning tool and we all have done this, shoot at your hand or forearm. now imagine 2000psi with no projectile just air next to your face. that would be the lucky scenario if something failed. not even thinking of explosion with projectiles at your face.
