Shoot hard, shoot fast, no fade - mag conversion.
I just got my drozd gun with a buddy a week ago, and the first thing we realized is that we can't put co2 cartridges in the dang thing fast enough. Well, this would not be tolerated of course, even with 2 mags, changing out co2 carts was intolerable. I have a solution, and it can make the gun a lot more fun. If you'd like to have this mag conversion done for you, you could send me your mag, or buy a complete mag from me that's already converted, then you can use readily available paintball gun tanks, or with a remote hose you can keep the gun light and fire to your heats content with greater power and no fading. I fired off over 20 mags full with my 9 oz tank, and it still was running strong. I'm thinking the price of this with the magazine will be about $ 100. You'll just need to get your own tank. This picture is a prototype, and the production parts may vary slightly in appearance. Check it out. PICTURE & DESCRIPTION

Re: Shoot hard, shoot fast, no fade - mag conversion.
Just thought I'd let some people know that the description of the conversion has changed a little - I'm not going to notch the plastic flip open part of the mag anymore for the finger groove - it weakens the part too much and can make it prone to breaking if it's removed without extreme care. It also looks a bit nicer without that finger groove cutout. I personally like it notched, and don't care so much about the looks - but I'm going to leave it to you guys if you want to notch out the finger groove yourself. As it is - the plastic flips open just enough with the conversion in place so you can stick your finger in it to squeeze the magazine follower down for loading bb's. If you have any questions, just let me know. Enjoy !!

LOVE the conversions. I sit around the house popping off gas WITHOUT any BB's just to feel the pow'wa.

One suggestion, if you most slightly rounded off the lower forward corner of the plastic flip cover, wouldn't it open a bit more for some of us fat fingered types?

I may take a file to these two you made for me. It wouldn't take much.

The mag conversion from Cooper-T allows the gas can to stick out horizontal. Attach a butt plate on the end and use it as a stock. This would look much better than the conversions that stick out below.

Everybody has their own preferences and there is no right or wrong in that. There are a dozen ways to set these up. Having the bottle permanently attached at the stock, as several of my paintball guns are, creates other problems with the Drozd removable magazine however. You're tethered by the air line that way and it can be a bit awkward since you must FREQUENTLY reload. Plus, constantly pulling and tugging on the air fittings can and do loosen them up over time.

You makes you choice. You lives with de consequences. Smackdown's setup may not be as appealing but it is a solid, light, compact, and portable unit that is easily removed, loaded, and put back in action as though there was no air line at all.

I even tried mine with one of the small 12 Gram CO2 adapters last night and found it to work perfectly with the normal number of shots. It actually seemed to have a higher level of power because there wasn't as much cooling. You can't put one of those slip-on bottle butt stocks on the 12 Gram powerlet adapter.

Re: Shoot hard, shoot fast, no fade - mag conversion.
Oh, and one more comment about having our CO2 bulk bottle up and horizontal at stock level...it can create liquid feed problems, I'm thinking. This creates inconsistent shots and less efficiency. The expansion chamber in the Drozd magazine is small and actually has a bit of a problem handling a completely full 7 oz. bottle in the lower position. Higher up I'd think it would be a squirt gun.

I'm surely no expert in the volitization of the gas. Any other thoughts on this?

I agree, I thought of a buttstock position at first, which would have been as easy to do, ...but exactly - having to remove the mag often for reloading (about every 5 seconds), and dealing with that attached hose, made me go the way I did - plus I factored in the versatility when a remote coil his is used - at least there are choices. And I like how the bottom of the mag, at least we have a little drop in the position of the co2 canister to keep the liquid down mostly.

Re: Shoot hard, shoot fast, no fade - mag conversion.
Just got the Major's mag conversion. Haven't tried it, (20 miles to the nearest CO2 fill), but it looks well made and looks to be a good value.

Anyone know how long the standard pin valve is likely to keep the CO2 inside the tank stored for some months?

Re: Shoot hard, shoot fast, no fade - mag conversion.
Now, I don't recommend this, Northwoods, because recent deaths due to improper modifications and storage of bottles have caused "Hydro test" dates to now be placed on new paintball bottles. That being said, I put my early 1990's 7 oz. bottles away about eight years ago and when I got Major_Smacker's bulk outfit I dug them out again to check to see if any were usable. Hello. All of them were...except one. I could NOT get the valve to work with my finger. I finally pushed on it with a screwdriver and...... WOOOOOOSHHHHHH! Shock of my life. That sucker was still full of CO2.

Is eight years enough?
