I fired until I got bored with a 12 oz tank, and it still had lots left - well over 1000 shots with that on the remote hose.

This sounds great! There are 9oz/12oz/20oz CO2 canister sizes and if you adapter head is standardized you could use any one of these with your setup. Checked on the cost of filling a 20oz at the local Dick(sports that is) and at 5$ and full power all the way for a 20oz makes for a great day of shooting. I assume that any unused CO2 can be used later. I am aware that a tank needs to be fully purged prior to refill. Interesting reading on how the CO2 liquid is transferred to the canisters.

Re: How many magazines/shots on a bulk 20oz CO2?
Ok, i bought a 14 oz 2 days ago and have had 2 firing sessions where i know i havent spent more than 10 magazines each day. 3/4 or more of a speed loader each day. To the end of this evening the power has dropped to the strength of the end of the second into the 3rd magazine of a 12gr bulb fade by comparison. That would be way less than 1000 rds and not going strong anymore.
Could the co2 cylinder valve be releasing too much co2?
I mean the gun was firing like a full open pot. with recoil till tonight. Is it possible the guy didnt fully charge the tank?
It was so fast like 20-30 seconds and your ready, does that sound right? Theres still co2, but it feels like a 3rd magazine bulb. Am i just being notty and maybe i spaced several speed loaders full?

Btw, the cyclinder was an overstock item by Eagle brand 14oz on sale 20$. Any ideas or am i just expecting a Strafer
volume too much?

Re: How many magazines/shots on a bulk 20oz CO2?
there could be a few issues here, maybe your gun releases more co2 per shot due to the magazine, or the solenoid (if that's possible).. or your co2 tank has a slow leak (I had this problem with my walmart 9oz co2 tank, the leak was slow enough I coudln't hear it, but after about 6 or 7 hours it was empty - I took it back). 1000 was a guess, and not a guarantee - I know I did about a 1000 with a 12 oz tank - and yes maybe they didn't fully fill your tank - the tank needs to be cold to take a full charge. I'll get my 12oz tank full again and actually count for certain the number of mags it'll shoot before it's pooped and report in. I don't remember your setup radical, is yours with the remote hose ? It might be that a remote hose gets more shots if it can keep the amount of liquid down that gets into the gun. Just a thought there.

Re: How many magazines/shots on a bulk 20oz CO2?
I just shot 450 BBs using 4 oz from a full 9 oz tank on the major's system. Good power, no fade, worked very well. However, most of my shots are angled down hill and I'm thinking that on the full tank, I may have been sending some liquid out the gun. I did notice some "snowflakes" out the barrel when the mag was empty -- I hadn't seen those with the 12 gram tanks.

Major -- for those of us shooting mostly down hill, do you think we should increase the tank angle-- bottom down?

Some things are making sense here. Major, I have the mag bottom system. From what im reading, tank positions has a significant effect in regard to the consumption of co2. I do infact shoot downward such that any richochets bank into the dirt. When I say smoke out the barrel i meant cloud bursts and dandruff. I didnt put together the connection with my stance till now. The 12 gr bulbs are always perpendicular(that word always makes me grin), anyway, and i didnt notice this effect much unless i laid the gun on its side for a while as i placed new targets the first burst would blow some smoke and have the most smoke and penetration. I know something has to do with the expansion chamber, but im not one to really know. When I charge I will ask the guy how low the pressure was and maybe distract him while he's filling to bump up da volume lol

Re: How many magazines/shots on a bulk 20oz CO2?
if they do it right, they're supposed to purge the tank fully, to give it a chill, then put some in it, purge it again to get it really cold, then fill it to a prescribed weight. It didn't occur to me that anyone would be shooting down much - I did incorporate a bit of angle, but not enough for some.. - for you guys, I'd get the remote coil hose - just like paintball, I hear you can get them for about 20 bucks on ebay. then you can point the gun in any direction. I have a coil hose, but I really don't use it much - but I don't shoot downard much at all. there is another fix, you can have your tank altered at a paintball gun shop to put in an anti-syphon tube, this will be a little tube inside the tank valve assy, that will point upwards into the spot least likely to get fluid in it. Right at the higest point in the tank... I'd go hose first though..

Re: How many magazines/shots on a bulk 20oz CO2?
Count made. Little bitty 3 1/2 oz tank using Major_Smackdown's bulk setup. My economy minded Drozd would knock holes in a gallon can at six feet non-stop for about 600 shots. It was still denting really well after 720. I was using 6 round bursts at 600 rpm for the test. The little tank did get cold so the power dropped off where it wasn't so much fun after that. Have to fill the bottle again.

Oh, and by the way, I was shooting level.

At that rate with this particular Bumble Bee I could easily blow holes up at BB gun range consistently for well over 1200 shots on my old 7 oz bottle.

Pretty impressive and the heck with the 12 grams that I thought were so much fun BEFORE. Congratulations to Major-Smacker for coming up with such a terrific config. I just love it.

PS: My black Drozd uses a lot more CO2 but I like the sound and the kick so I probably won't back out the electro-magnet or turn down the potentiometer on it. Filling my own bottles tosses economy out the window. Yeeeeeee haaaaaa ta tat tat.

Re: How many magazines/shots on a bulk 20oz CO2?
If Olpistolpacker was able to get 600 rounds on a 3.5oz, it should mean that i could expect to get in the area of 2400 rounds before co2 begins to sputter. Thats 80 magazines. Can anyone do that in 2 firing sessions? Let alone in less than 2 hours? If my Drozd is ralphing that much co2 i would be killing tree sorrels behind me and overhead with the buttstock.

So i refilled it and the guy (the owner this time) checked the tank out for leaks and i watched how he filled and it looked like all was right. The tank was very much low. I was
only able to run 6 magazines tonight. But im going to keep careful count the next week and post the numbers again.
Even wide open i cant see my Drozd wasting that much co2.
Its still 90 rounds on a 12gm. I have 2 magazines and one does seem to get more rounds than the other. Can there be a varience in the valve stem spacings?

? Should i leave the co2 bottle attached to the magazine over the next week or is it better to remove it btw sessions
or does it not matter?

Re: How many magazines/shots on a bulk 20oz CO2?
It may not be the best idea to keep the magazine pressurized with the bottle attached. Even though you do lose a little gas each time you remove the bottle, it may save wear and tear on all the seals in the long haul. On a warm day the CO2 pressure can exceed 1200 psi and it could blow out at the weakest link. By keeping it hooked into the bulk setup you risk, what? Rupture disk on bottle, bottle seal, hose and fittings, lower expansion chamber o-ring, upper chamber o-ring, and a couple more in the magazine valve itself. No point in blowing something out before its time in my humble opinion plus endangering life and limb.

I put the tiniest bit of Vaseline on the bottle o-ring or a clear reel grease and the bottle screws in quickly and easily and minimizes CO2 loss in the process as well...also prolongs that o-ring though they are cheap.

I know the instructions with paintball bottles ALWAYS tell you to remove the bottle after using to take the pressure off. Any pro's out there? Different opinions?

Ok my key board is back, ni have conttayrrrrowl agahn. Weird, mouse was working but not the keyboard. Reset the clock and bingo.

I agree. Ive been removing the bottle after every session. If i dont get much more from this bottle, im at a loss. I can say that the bottle does feel real cold now and didnt so much the first fill. Id like to pass it off as breaking in a new valve. Well, im of to shred something, i dont know what, but i havent had dinner yet and the 'que is ready to fire up.
Time to go play primordial man. Be ready woman. Mans bringin home dinna.
