trigger valve?
i need to know what kind of valve would be best for the trigger mechanism in my BB gun i am building, im probably going to use compressed air for testing and then switch over to paintball co2 tanks or somehting like that. so i need pointers on regulators too. thanks !

Re: trigger valve?
I'll do some searching on the web and see what I come up with for you... The other folks like gears80 and sgt_pepper probably have a better idea right off the top; I'd have to look around since I have never purchased any valves before.

Re: trigger valve?
It really depends on the gun and the gas pressure.
A spraygun or any compressor attachment will have
a suitable valve for a vortex gun as activation time
is not an issue.

Re: trigger valve?
its the mechanism in my other post, probably around 100PSI and not a vortex gun, i dont like having no moving parts in a gun, doesnt seem right lol. thanks for helpin guys, keep lookin please!

Re: trigger valve?
Ah yes. You can still use a spraygun etc. valve as the
trigger. In the blow-off type piston setup you don't
need quick release of the gas, as the piston does
this job. The design that you linked to is overly
complicated, there are easier way of doing the same
thing, like having the pressure act on the piston against
a spring, which reveals a transfer port at the end of
its travel, firing the BB. As the port opens, pressure
reduces and the spring pushes the piston back.

Re: trigger valve?
ok cool, could you illustrate your design for me, i kinda get what you are saying but i cant picture it in my head

Re: trigger valve?
I've drawn up a sketch of one way of doing it, I'll
try post it:

I've built a similar gun, but the gas flows through the
piston and it uses 800+ psi. This design should get the
most reliable feeding, no double shots.

Re: trigger valve?
k thats about what i thought you were talking about, thats pretty helpful too and does simplify my design quite a bit! i will get to work on figurin out how im going to build this thing pretty soon, but i have other more pressing things to work on, i'll get to work on this in shop class at school tho, i love shop lol

i just decided on what i am going to base the design off of! the Calico light weapons systems M100! http://world.guns.ru/smg/smg57-e.htm

Re: trigger valve?
tell me to go back to sleep if you like but could this be attached direct to a paint ball set up to make a semi auto ?
i dont want to break the uk gun laws but want to do a home build gun.
id realy like it to be semi and pellet fed .

this seems like such a simple but effective method to me , which leaves alot more time to magazine building etc.
thank you for shearing it with us .
all the best matt

Re: trigger valve?
My design below could be semi-auto. With a light return
spring the piston will stay forward after a shot and gas will
escape until the trigger is released - only then the bolt
will go back and another BB (or pellet) will drop down.

Thanks Sgt. Pepper for the schematics. There are things I would add that others would laugh at, and maybe vice versa!
The over-all concept is good, the only weakness is the usual, the ammo-magazine feed to pneumatic-chamber, unless it's a hose-pipe.
Is hose-pipe really so wrong? Especially if it's in .22 cal.?
