That is one sweet rifle. In Kentucky we can get NFA. I just do not have that kind of money. This last spring at Knob Creek, entry level full auto fun was going for 8,000.00. And that was for a Mac-10. MP-5's could be had for the low, low, price of 15,000.00. I may end up getting a supressor for my 10/22 when I have the money. Other than that, the Drozd satisfies my full auto addiction just fine. Well, that and going to Knob Creek twice a year.

Not in Kalifornia. We have a 10 day waiting period for all guns, not just handguns. That's just one example of how the state tramples our "right to bear arms".

Over here you can walk into Wal-Mart and buy a gun and ammo and go home with it. Our gun laws may be messed up, but at least they let us go wild with our Drozd with no restrictions.

I don't know why folks are up in arms over this. Neo asked a perfectly good question: If you have a device that's designed to operate at 10 volts, and you run it on 15 volts, you HAVE to wonder if it will cause some damage eventually. I know Postmaster said that just running at 12 volts can blow out the LED.

Wow how screwed up is that, I though UK laws were naff, So you can get a gun over there and a few days later a box of 9mm's but you cant have a sound supressor, Wow, You learn sometthing new every day! Thanks, NEo45

Over here in the USA, sound moderators are considered NFA firearms. You can own one if you apply and pay for a tax stamp. You also have to get your local law enforcement to approve your request. I think the stamp cost two hundred dollars. It is up to a six month wait also. Then add in the cost of the sound moderator and it really is not worth it to quiet down a bb gun. Besides, I like the bark of my Drozd. Also, I believe the battery upgrade allows the circuit to better keep up with full auto fire.

thanks for the laughs and the info guys, but I still dont understand the benifits of having move voltalge by using the N type batteries? what does the extra power do for the preformance of the gun?

Oh well then! I was almost right then, it applys to the older boards, There aint nothin like talkin some crap now and again! NEo45 ( Might have been talking crap but at least it will make people look into this kind of mod instead of bunging in any old batteries and screwing up there Drozd and anyway if you look realy closely at my first wording I state :: IM NOT SURE....... If you missed that then iv got an order number for a realy big magnifying glass on e-bay!) [ Too Many Emoticons In Post; Maximum 3 ]

You are talking crap. The only problem is with the older boards. You have to wire in a resistor on the led. By older board I mean the one with two capacitors.

Sound logical to me. If someone who really knows electronics could analyze the circuit they might disagree.

Allo, I always like to respond to HELP Posts so here goes, Im not sure about the advantages of pumping more volts/amps into the Drozd will be but what I am positively sure of is that eventualy somethings gonna blow in the cuircuitry unless this is changes to recieve a bigger dossage! Imagine a 1.5v bulb rigged to a 3v batterie, The out-put will be increased and youll get a brighter light source, but the little coil in the bulb is ment to recive 1.5v so with 3v supply the heat it generates will weaken the metal part everytime it cools, Then on one dark rainy night when you expect you overpowered flash light to light up the dingeist of nooks and crannys, It wont! Becauuse the small 1.5v inards of the bulb have taken all the steriod voltage Abuse they can! Pop! This is only an example but could happen to your Drozd in thiery if you just bung in a higher voltage suply! Any one agree? or am I talking crap? NEo45

How does the battery upgrade affect the performance of the Drozd? What are the advantages? and to do it is a simple as putting N type batteries in where the AA's generally go?
Thanks for helping me out with these stupid elementary questions

If you can get the N type alkaline, go with that setup. Not as expensive as the lipo or nimh route. With the drozd, a fresh battery change out once a year is the norm. Unless you already have a charger and the cells laying around to build a pack, it would cost less to go with N type. Just my two cents.

Coming from an R/C car background 2/3AA batteries are rated at 1.2volts per cell so 8 would = 9.6volts. Are you sure 10 weren't required. Also, the advantage of these batteries over a standard Alkaline is the fact that they are rechargable (the GP or Intellect cells are the best here) and the fact that they capable of putting out more amperage then an Alkaline. I am wondering if a 3-cell Lipo battery (rated at 11.1volts) wouldn't work even better for this application as they are MUCH smalller, still capable of a high amp discharge and are also rechargable with a dedicted Lipo charge. A 4-cell Lipo would be rated at 14.8volts. Only downside is the fact that they are very expensive and somewhat volatile.

The batteries Weblimbo had were called "2/3 AA" When you use 8 of them you get 12 volts. You have to spot weld a nipple on each so it's easier to use the "N" type.

Hello,
The ones Postmaster had were 1.25 volt nicad if I remember correctly. The alkaline "N" size are 1.5 volt. You can pick up "N" size batteries at Radio Shack. I think they are using 10 of them, which would give you 15 volts. HTH

Hello all again,
I was wondering where or what type of batteries can i get to upgrade for more voltage? I know Postmaster had them i think on weblimbo but he has since long sold out of them. Rechargable would be nice if they come like that but I think they were 1.5 volt batteries nicads? I dont remember exactly what or type to find or even where to get them. Thank you once again
