I have a Chinese T53 coming in from J&G sales(good company)
This will be ny 3rd MN. The other 2 are a Hex receiver and a round smooth both Tula. They are dark but have the shapest thickest lands. I may impro a drill to bore and copper brush scrubber like I clean the breeches on my Garands and M1 carbines. Here's the T53: http://7.62x54r.net/MosinID/MosinM44EEC.htm I also got a Ruger Standard, 4-the original to the line of Mark pistols. This is identical the the MK I and many oif the MK series parts are compatable. NO PROBLEM ever with parts for this line. I recently replace the recoil assembly and gave the pistol a nice polish(NO bluing or changing of the aged look. I also treated it to a set of MK 2 grips with the red and gold medallian black grips. Only difference is the left grip has the space for the slide release which this model lacks. It still looks great and no exposure of the grip internals. Pics coming-Rad

Steve, that is a totally RADICAL looking GSG 5!!! Awesome. If I put all the mods back on mine it would look much like yours! But I MUST get an under rail for a tango grip!! Used to hate the look, but then I wised up once I saw how comfortable they were with my AR 15's. Some even have a drop inside the handle tripod-is that what extends from your grip base? Is that the new 110 round drum? Excellent! Aren't they great! The pistol grip sleeve is a must, isn't it?! Looks complete to me! Great job, Steve. I need a new flash light. The one I have is very compact and extremely bright, but I have to remove the batteries after every use of they completely drain. Whats yours? Any problems? What would you recommend? Thanks brutha!

Ive "decosmoed" many a rifle particularly the Mosin Nagants by disassembling them and running them through a dishwasher cycle. Works great.

Good info Rad. Yup! that cosmo is a beast. Already ruined the T-shirt I was wearing when I held the gun. I found some good vids on youtube on how to remove the cosmo which involve sweating it out of the stock, and soaking it out of every thing else. There is also a good vid on disassembling the bolt for a soaking. The Boltman has a decent priced bent bolt that looks pretty nice. Can't wait to give a good inspection and shoot!

The hex is more desirable but not by more than 10-15%. Tula marked command a bit more as well. A laminate is a luxury that any Mosin can have bought for. I sure wouldn't make any Mosins safe queens. These have been well shot with likely one heck of a story as to where they have been. Ammo is cheap and powerful. Major concern is shot thru barrels. All will have black and maybe some small pitting, but if the lands are good, it will shoot some pretty nice groups. 109 is a good deal today and should come with the extras. First thing I did was polish well the chamber. Then the round will slip in and extract smoothly. It might be a good idea to clean out the firing pin chamber as often its missed and usually has some heavy stick cosmo that's like pitch tar! Its hard to have one. Currently i own 2 and a VZ 24/47 8mm. Very nice Czech Mauser. You will enjoy it!

Rad, I remembered this post from a while back. I just bought my first Mosin yesterday, and as with everything out here, it was more expensive. $109. I looked at a few at different stores. One had a round receiver that looked like a beaver milled it, then saw a cleaner round receiver I was about to buy, and decided to check one more in a closed box. Saweet! Hex receiver dated 1934. All the assessories. It also had some stamped info on the side of the hex that I have not been able to find on any of the forum ID pages. When I get it in 10 days I'll post a picture. I have a feeling this is not one I will be shooting, so I'll have to start looking for another.

Check this out! These are HP cartridges heavier and faster than CCI CB Longs (33gr./740fps vs. 29gr./710fps). Supposedly as quiet as the CCI's. Also they are Standard size rounds, so NO modding magazines to make 'em work!! Anyone try these before???! These will also NOT cycle semi-autos.
http://www.thefirearmsforum.com/showthread.php?t=57580&highlight=CBee And here's a great comparison btween the CCI CB Longs and the Remington CBee's: http://www.longrangehunting.com/forums/f33/cci-cb-long-vs-rem-cbee-22-quiet-ammo-showdown-76359/ And another review: http://www.thehighroad.org/archive/index.php/t-550922.html http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/ItemDetail.aspx?sku=2-REMCB22L100 I'm ordering some today. ---Cam

I'm really doubting it. Next time I have my Ruger apart, I want to remove the bolt spring and fire a CB Long and see if there is enough force to move that heavy bolt all the way back...

They don't cycle. But I have no problem drawing the charger and loading easily every shot. I wonder if there is a 22 rifle that can be modded to cycle CBs? If so, Im sure some one would have made it and sitting pretty!

Yeah Rad, they come with two cylinders and can shoot Magnum, LR, shorts, and CB longs. I looked them up on youtube. Cheap and made in the USA. Under $300 and some opinions are they don't last. So, maybe I'll keep looking.
Wow, so your saying that the CB's cycle the action on your AR15 .22 conversion? Sh!t, I was at the range last week and did not try them in my .22 Sig, was too busy blasting about 800 LR's and 100 .223's. I'll give it a shot with the CB's next time.

That is a sweet pistol DnC! It is a magnum? The laminate has always been my favorite for its vivid highlights! The long barrel Im sure will make it really accurate. Matt Dillon style. There are also single action Peacemaker style guns that come with a LR as well as a magnum cyclinder-see them often at auctions. I hear ya on the CBs. Im buying them by the bricks from Aim Surplus. I shoot them with my AR15's as well. I have the Atchisson .22 conversion kit with one 30 and one ten magazine. Works great!

Groundhog Day!!!
Nice Rad. I remember those, the "Ruger Luger" Funny how you never forget your "first time" ![]() I'm not sure if the CB's will throw back the bolt, but you never know. I'm hooked on those CB's. I'm thinking about a .22 mag pistol that will handle mags, LR, and CB longs like this: ![]() Held this at the store the other day and it feels like a nice target pistol. If anyone has one of these chime in, I'd like to hear your opinion.

Just won this the other day. Works great but decided to get a new spring assembly as these are close to 50+ years old. 20$ not much. Royal PITA to disassemble and reassemble. Thank
God for u tube! But no one mentioned the positioning of the upper to allow reinstallation of the retaining mechanism. No biggy. Just soft malloted the frame back a bit and all lined up and closed up neat. Love these Rugers. First real gun I ever shot as a kid and swore one day Id have one. Well now I do! Will take new home pictures to post. VERY accurate. Curious about CBs. We'll see. Rad http://www.gunauction.com/search/displayitem.cfm?ItemNum=10722462

DnC, i love it! You've maintained it very well! The DO collect a high premium at auctions but so few are ever posted. Thats a keeper for the next at command
![]() DnC, I HUNT these group of rifles ALL the time. .22 and esp C&R eligible ones catch a very nice price. Heck Id buy it if u were selling! 22 are so accurate the become almost instictual shooters that you bond to and become almost fanatical about how you feel the rifle can hit anything you want. Enjoy it my friend! -Rad ETA: Guns are like GOLD! There are so many and our populous is so hungry for firearms that its easy to triple or a llot more your initial cost. I bought a Polytech 762 double folder for 700.00 and sold for over 1400.00 After having it for 3 years! I have a lot to sell. Would give a great select price for my buddies here. Let me know.

Rad I think you'll appreciate this. This is my first gun, the Winchester Model 75 Sporting with the 24" barrel. Got handed down to me when I was 10 yrs old, and hasn't left my side since. For a city kid, it was a pretty big deal to have a gun in possession since age 10! My Dad put on a nice little rear sight and dialed it in right before he gave it to me and it was dead on! Has the original Winchester 5 round mad and I just found these 10 round pro mags which required a little filing and re-bluing to get em' to fit. I have an after market leather sling that I bought about 35 years ago which is very similar to the original.
![]() I can't believe what some of these are going for. There were about 89,000 made between 1938-1958. I saw a mint one in the 83,000 # range with box asking $3,999. Mine is in the 13,000 # range so was probably built in the early 1940's. Average $$ seems to be $800 - $1,100 for the Sporting model. I recently brought it out to shot some of those CB caps and had forgotten how fun it is to shoot this gun! Cheerz
