You lot have too many weapons! Here in the UK we only single action rifles, no pistols and max of 3 round shotguns!

Can you tell me what the difference in the muzzle brakes is? One is flat, and one is slanted and they are both threaded.
Never mind. Just read your post on MP661K.com.

Your 8 year old can now engage in counter-sniper activity at his elementary school playground. Amazing how a big scope can make a little rifle look all the business!

It has been a while and they may have gotten better but model1 sales has had a long string of bad pr and dependability with customers. They're products are fine if you ever receive them.

Thanks Blurted! As far as I can tell in CA you can only buy a stripped lower and build it up, or buy the gun prebuilt. I was looking at kits on http://www.model1sales.com and it looks like the contain everything else.
I checked out that link you posted and they do have some great step-by-step guides. I'll read through the forums more in depth asap. Thanks!

If you go with a stripped lower, you will need the lower parts kit as well. The upper will most likely be complete. If not, you will need a bolt, carrier, and charging handle for it. The only reason to go with a stripped lower is if you desire a specific brand of trigger components, or just higher quality parts. There are plenty of sites to get all the information on putting together an AR. I would suggest checking out AR15.com. They are much easier than building an AK from a kit. Radical is the AR man around these parts as far as I know. Give him a PM and I bet he will steer you toward the best kit for you. HTH

Have any of you built an AR-15 yourself? I was wondering what else you need besides the stripped lower, barrrel kit and stock?

I will be adding the barrel, etc. So, I guess it doesn't matter. First though, I'd like to get the drozd. UPS sucks! Order shipped out on the 4th and it's still not here. Yea, I know, we had the Holiday and it delayed things. Still sucks.

It depends. If you're going to leave your Drozd bone stock, then you should be ok with lead. If you upgrade to full auto or HPA, lead will jam. If you decide to upgrade like 98% of the people on this forum, then you will have to use steel BB's. That's not really a problem for an upgraded Drozd with a hardened barrel though. To get more power, one of the obvious things you can do is replace the barrel with a longer one. The 2 main sources of upgrade barrels are Zore of MP661K.com and JimC of this forum. They both make hardened barrels and they will last much longer with steel bb's than the manufacture's short barrel. Adding full auto capability and HPA will take your Drozd to a whole new level and you'll never quite wipe the silly little grin from your face.

Alright guy's.
I should get my drozd today or tomorrow. Before I came to this forum, I read a big discussion about what kind of bb's to shoot through the drozd. Big argument between lead and steel. So, does it really matter. Has the problem since been resolved? Something about the riffling destroyed by using steel bb's? Also accuracy was an issue....What's the verdict, steel or lead? mrhappy

No, .233 is not very cheap in my opinion. A 20 rd. box cost anywhere between 9-12 dollars for depending on brand. That averages .50 cents or more a round. Even in bulk, the cheapest I could get is about .30 cents a round. I suggest trying a 17 HMR. The ammo's like .25 cents a round and you get A LOT of bang for your buck. Extremely flat shooting.

I'm looking for a rifle to do some plinking with. Is the .223 ammo usually pretty cheap? I've already got some .22's so I want something a little more powerful, but not too big.

No kidding... If you find a good price on .223/5.56 let me know, and I'll do the same.
![]() I paid 135 + tax for a 500 rd case of Federal American Eagle 62g FMJ from GT Distributors and almost choked.

Pretty much all of the Russian steel case military ammo is the same quality. Suplus ammo like the Yugoslav, or SA Cheetah in brass cae woukd be a step up in accuracy and quality brass case.

I'm trying not to shoot my NIB legend. The other one I bought that was a safe queen will be here next week. That's the one I'm going to shoot. Got any extra ammo? I'm having a hell of a time finding any for it.
