Re: Starting upgrade of Blackbird

Thats how I did my mod, I did not like the way the mod board was installed in the Drozd and loosing functions.

I used a switch to be able to go from full auto, to stock burst settings.

I haven't done it yet, but figured how to wire it so you had single 3 shot then full without adding a switch to the side.

This is for the DROZD not the Blackbird.

The Blackbird, you can replace the chip with one that is programed to do full auto.

Totalh programs them.

Re: Starting upgrade of Blackbird

I figured I would go this route and see how it goes, I can always change it up later because that wouldn't be that hard to do. The full auto board still should work with the Blackbird since you tap into the trace that comes from the trigger switch to rapidly pulse the input, as if you were doing by hand.
You guys are making me want to buy one to mess with

Sounds interesting, I personally hate to drill holes, unless it really fits the design of the product, just me I guess.

Have any pictures to post yet?

Re: Starting upgrade of Blackbird

Hi guys, what I got is intead of installing a switch behind the trigger we can have a switch with an external battery pack. It seems resoanable to me. In that case we don't not need to drill into the body to mount the switch.

sevendust,

as always thank you for your fast response and pictures. i think you are correct in that the momentary switch is the way to go.

Thanks for the info. Is the switch a click on click off or a push and hold its on and let go its off? How big is it from front to back? What about diameter?

Where did you buy your pressure switch from when you went that route? I bought mine from dealextreme and want to know if its junk.

Being that the pressure switch is made for lower voltages do you think this could be a reason for the premature failure?

Thanks in advance.
totalh it's hole size that you have to drill to install the switch is 11/64 the switch itself that would be inside the gun is 3/8" plus the tabs to solder the wires to, mine had plenty of room to spare the switch is a momentary switch which works as long as it is pushed, I will attach pic of it.
The pressure switch was originally made for a laser BB gun scope, I'm sure not the best, I did hook it into the negative side of the mag for less voltage spike but it still burned out after awhile, this momentary switch works really well and is not as much of a pain to hook up where as the pressure switch has to be just right so it will come on the same time the gun is firing.

sevendust,

do you have any tips for placing the rod behind the trigger?

approximate length? diameter of dowel/rod? where did you purchase the parts from?

thanks in advance.
Hello totalh, long time no hear from, glad to see you back. the trigger setup on this post which is behind the trigger, I did away with because the pressure switches I put in would not hold up very long, I had put 2 in and they both after awhile burned up, so I've went a different route which has worked really well and is a lot easier to do anyway, I used a Radio Shack SPST 0.5 amp momentary switch model #275-1571 they were 2 switches for $2.99, I just push the mag button at the same time as the trigger, works really well and even at 18 volts (12 AA Duracell batteries) which I've posted in another post about a week ago, this thing does not miss a beat (no blank shoots) here is a pic of where I mounted it, if you have any questions let me know.

wow....that looks nice and neat. You really got it all tucked in nicely. I have a question on exactly the order of shooting. To re-cap: You pull on the trigger a little and the mag. turns on? Then, when you pull the trigger all the way, its firing? Correct? If not, how do you get the mag. filled and ready to shoot. I know that magnet mod you did is a good thing. I want to do that too. Could you show us pics of yours? THANKS for all the pics. LOVE IT.

How do you like it now shooting full auto? How big of a tank are you using and how many shots are you getting?

Thanks rogntrude, the way I have it set up and adjusted is when you pull the trigger they are timed at also the same second, in other words pretty much at the same time, the only problem I had after the mod we the BBs falling back into the mag causing blank shoots also out the barrel when you tilted the barrel down to the ground, they fell out the barrel even when I first got it, the magnets in the mag solved the hole problem, the mag seems to so far keep up and man the fully auto with that many BBs is a blast, this thing will do some serious damage, the way I have it wired is if you run out of BBs in the mag, you can load the mag full of BBs and what I can do is before I power up the gun I can install the mag and pull the trigger and it will run the mag and load the BBs to the top of the mag and ready to shoot, (in other words I have the mag wired to power up with the power off and squeeze the trigger and it will run the mag) hope that makes sense. as far as pics I haven't taken any, what pics are you wanting of the gun or the mag? also I need to get my tanks filled, then I will let you know how many shots I am getting.

Re: Starting upgrade of Blackbird

One thing that is good about the way this is wired is that anyone that has a Blackbird knows that sometimes the BBs will tend to fall back into the mag causing you to fire the gun and no BBs come out, the way this is wired up is before I turn the power switch on I can pull the trigger and it will load the mag full of BBs then turn the power button on and start shooting.

Nice job so far. So, just to re-cap. You got your Board from totalh or EAA? How much? Is that all you need for the Mag part. Just a positive and a negative? What was the 3rd one for? Or was it just a post to stabilize it on the board?

I ordered the main board from EAA and the fully auto mod board from totalh, the main board from EAA was $45 and the fully auto board from totalh was $25. As far as the leads on the mag outlet I was wrong the lead in the back is positive and the ones on the side and bottom are the negitive leads and you do have to have both of the negitive leads hooked together for it to work so I had to remove it from the board and reinstall it and mounted on it's side to be able to get to both negitive connections, was no problem because it also sits flat even on it's side.

and also got the outlet for the mag mounted to the Drozd board, I used some plastic welder epoxy some really good stuff, the outlet has 3 pins I ground the bottom pin completely off and folded out the other two for my connections (positive and ground).

I got the switch problem figured out, I cut down some wiring connector insulators that are normally crimped down on wires for connections, seems to work really well.

I got my board and mod board from totalh ( thanks for the quick shipping totalh) and on the Drozd board I ordered it with my model and serial number as required when you order and they sent me the old style board with the skinny switches WTF  I guess I can make it work, just have to do some modding.
