This gun should continue to develop either through Air-Ordnance, or through individuals like on this site (probably both). Maybe a bb version will be available. In my own builds, I like lead ammo since it can seal the barrel better for better energy and allows more air available for recocking a full-auto action.
I agree that not all full-auto airguns are for everyone, but I think all of them are pretty cool anyway. I have a few gaps in my collection, but will eventually fill them. The cost of ammo will matter more for some than others. If I can afford it, I will pay for quality ammo (for longer range accuracy, or other traits) but the use of it will be more limited than cheaper ammo for me. 2 1/2 cents a round will add up quickly if out blasting in the junkyard, but what fun!!! I still think lead prices will continue to go up, so it will be more and more expensive. I'm glad that another off the shelf gun is available. TBK

Sounds cool!!! Not sure about the 22 pellets though.
Pellets are supposed to improve accuracy and from what I've seen this gun is not accurate. They also take forever to load and the cheapest are around $6 for a 250 tin. If I compare that to any of my full auto BB guns, I can't imagine how tedious this gun would be to use and how fast the ammo cost would add up. I shot more than 25,000 rounds through my Drozd in a fairly short time – that would be over $600 in ammo! It also seems there's more target damage with the BBs (a lot more than what I saw on their video). I'm sure this gun is majorly fun (ignoring the jamming and other problems) - all full auto guns are a blast. But if you're worried about CO2 being expensive just wait till those pellets start adding up! I think this is more of a collector's item than something to shoot. I agree it seems worth it for $550 (which is less than many tricked out Drozds) and it seems to be built much better than a Drozd and it's metal (but then you were talking about the plastic drive gear stripping?). If it used BBs I'd probably buy it, but not so sure with the pellets yet. JDT

How ya doin thermalsurfing, I am using the gamo pellets that came with the gun, but with a flat nose on em there doesn't seem to be that much penetration power. But...I have a tin of TF (trademark) .22 pellets, TF-PHB250, 250 count, made in China. They load nice in the belt with half the pressure it takes to load the Gamo's. There's no weight spec.'s but I think they're lighter. BUT THEY ARE POINTED! And inexspensive. I'll try em in the morning. I'm using co2 but plan to go hpa with a 850 psi reg on it. Co2 is too exspensive. I like the price Drozdmax has for the Ninja 90 cu. in. 4500 psi tank. In New Mexico I can fill it for $1 per 1000 psi. That's better than $7.50 for 20 oz.'s of co2. I'd be careful making the belt longer, that drive gear looks like plastic and you don't want to strip out it's teeth. It seems like it has the Tippmann (paintball marker) A-5 response trigger. It's sweet and fast! Murf.

i sent pay pal payment for mine on Christmas day but i think they said they where going to be out of town till after the first so i wont get it for a while. It sounds like a good gun but it kinda sucks to hear it broke so fast but i am glad to hear it as a easy fix. are you using the pellets that came with the gun ? are you using hpa or the co2 ? how is the power and the rpm ? sorry for all the questions but i a so excited to get my hands on it. i ordered a TIPPMANN-Collapsible-Stock for it and two extra belts and a extra drum so far for it. I cant wait to see what kind of mods people start doing to it. i think a longer barrel would be the first one to do. can you connect the belts together for more rounds ? if so it looks like the drum might hold more then 100. oh man i can not wait to get my hands on it i hope it gets here soon. it sounds like you think it was worth what we paid for it so that's good news !!! Thanks for the posting about it now i am even more excited to get it

Well it finally arrived! I shot 8 pellets full auto before the belt guide blew off and one of the ears broke off it. The spring loaded part holding the guide in place did not have enough clearance to fully hold it down. Easy fix with a file though. I also drilled and tapped the side of this part for a 4-40 socket head cap screw to make opeing the belt guide easier. Even with the one ear broken it locks in place just fine. After another short burst it jammed again. It's variations in the belt. So with the bolt cocked and safety on, I checked the fit of each tube on the assembled belt to the spacing on the gun. Some where too tight, so I took a file and took just enough off so it would slip thru. Take off too much and your fps will probably drop. Now she's running like a Thompson on steroids. And with a class IIIa green laser with a 1 mile range set just right, at night it lights the pellets up as they're coming out about 10-60 ft in front of the gun for the traser effect. Outrageous!!! Will post pics and video's next week. The guns worth it. Murf.

They recommend Gamo match, check their site they have them listed. I did try crossman HP and they did not work very well. The ouside diameter of the cup is not consistent. Some fell right through the feeder tube. I tried 1 belt and had 3 or 4 jams. Let me know if you find anything that works in bulk, I could use a 5 gallon bucket of them. I did get a small video yesterday but I am having trouble editing it down to just the actual firing I will try again tonight. I don't know if was the cold (32 degrees) but the gun would not shoot consistently at all yesterday. I was using c02, lots of jams. I tried using the HPA tank but when I screwed it in I could not pull the trigger. I assumed it has too much pressure. It was being used on Tippman paintball guns so I'm baffled why it will not work. I will try adjusting the fire rate screw down on the gun and see if that has anything to do with it.

It sounds like this one is going to be a lot of fun. The belt loading takes a while, but so does a regular drozd mag.
I'll have to add one of these. TBK

Just got back from xmas trip. I have run 500 rounds through it. My thoughts: Loading the 100 round belt takes about 8 minutes. In Brads vid he does it 5 at a time, I think it is easier and faster to lay the belt out on a table and position all 100 pellets in the tubes then use the press tool to seat them. I did buy 2 extra belts so I can load 400 at a time. I have no reference point this being my first full auto anything but I think it is a blast. I have only fired at cardbord but at 25 paces, I can keep it in a ~8 inch group. I had 2 jams both were caused by the pellet being miss aligned going into barrell. Both were easily cleared by using a screw driver to gently pry the tube out of the feeder. The video Brad put up is exactly what you get. The packaging is professional and the gun well made. It is a modified Tipmann paintball gun. I will still try and shoot a video today. I have also bought the Drozd Thermalsurfer posted in the classified section. I will be curious how the 2 rate against each other. He's suppose to ship it Monday.

Brad ,
i linked your page to the "Big" boys belt fed forums and have gotten some real interest going on it !! A lot of us who run 30 cal and 50 cal belt feds LOVE anything belt fed and yours is a Very cool setup indeed so i will be ordering one in this next year when i can scrape the pennies together ![]() I think this will take off very quickly my one suggestion would be to drop the price of the stock somewhat so the whole package with stock is about $600 total i think it will sell better !!! i am looking forward to reports on the durability of of the feed roller and belts (how many times it can be reloaded before it wears out ) GOOD LUCK and hope to do business with you soon !!!

Damn it. All they would have to do is advertise 495 fps and I would for sure buy one, lol. A shorter barrel might be easy enough to do.
![]() What weight is that pellet in the second video? Thanks NM, I just noticed Brad was recommending Gamo match pellets that weigh in at 13.88gr. A heavier pellet at 14.3gr might bring the speed down enough like GD had mentioned earlier to make this gun pass.

We put up some "quick" videos because we didn't want you guys to wait until the final videos are done. We are taking ideas of fun stuff to shoot-- Let me know. We did two videos- 1 is an "unboxing" video showing exactly what comes in the box and the 2nd is a fps test so you can see what it is actually shooting. They are the smaller tanks that screw into the paint gun. My neighbor says they are ok to use just making sure.
I did get the gun today, it is substantial, very accurately portrayed on the web site. I've got alot to do today but hopefully I will get achance to fire it up.

Not sure if I followed this correctly. Are these 45 cubic foot storage tanks or are they the small 45 cubic inch remote tanks. If they are the latter, then they should have regulators on them. If they are larger storage tanks, then as everyone mentioned, you will need a smaller tank with a standard 800 - 850 regulator which usually comes with the tank. You will also need an adapter to transfer the HPA from the storage tank to the smaller regulated tank: http://paintballgateway.com/niscyofist.html You can find these on Ebay or at paintball shops. Anyway, charlotte515, welcome, looking forward to your videos and hope they don't tempt me into another impulse buy! ![]()

The standard paintball air tank is 800-850psi. So it is interchangable with the standard Co2 tank, it just screws righ in.
You don't need any special regulator valve...just a standard 800-850 psi paintball tank.(they do make a lower pressure one like 400psi- no good). Any painball shop will have 20 sizes to choose from, heck you can even go with a fancy 4500psi tank ![]()

Special lube yes..we all like lube...gun oil a big NO!! Besides regular gun oil eats o-rings..regular gun oils and orings don't play together well. Go to any paintball site..Tippman is an example, they tout there own Tippman Lube..as do others and claim use only our product..all repackaged silicone of some type Picture little 16 year Johny, all excited to get his new SMG .22 for Xmass, he spills GUN OIL all over the place... Its just a bad situation period.! the manual should say...Inspect and Replace if damaged O-ring and use only certified O-Ring lubricants from your local paintball shop.

It's ok Mrnewbie to lube the "O" ring on either CO2 and HPA, and recommend it regularly. That will help it seal better. The explosion hazard is for the HPA tanks only. The issue on them is under NO CIRCUMSTANCES should oil be allowed to get into the fill connector port. What will happen if oil gets in there is that the oil will "Deisel" under the high pressure fill. Then there could be a BOOM! Later, ---Cam

Bad Air-Ordnance, ...You come to our little machine gun forum to entice us with your new gun!
Damn it, it worked..looks like a cool gun, I want one and I'm sure we all do! Very bad Air-Ordnance..page 8 of your manual. Step 3: To install air supply, lubricate the cylinder valve o’ring (Fig. 3.a) with a little gun oil, then insert the tank cylinder valve into the tank adapter (Fig. 3.b) and turn the tank clockwise (Fig. 3.c) until it stops. This could be very bad, you DO NOT put regular gun oil on any type of HPA or Co2 O-ring. If the gun oil gets into the air system it can cause an explosion, there is some technical name for it..but lets just say BOOM. All O-rings should be treated with DIVERS SILICON or similar product from a paintball shop...NO GUN OIL!

TBK is correct. The high pressure air and nitrogen tanks will work well with the SMG-22, but you need to regulate the pressure down to ~850 psi. Your neighbor should be able to help you out with making sure the pressure is right.
