I have recieved the barrels today, they are noticeably tighter than the stock barrel. For sure there will be a increase in velocity but right now I only have the shroud for the 15" smg barrel kit, I will have to order the remaining parts for the 24" inch barrel.

In the mean time you can always just install the longer barrel without the shroud to see if it shoots well for you.

I went and ordered the remaining parts I needed from Jim C., they should be here in about a week or two.. I ain't taking chances on the accuracy so just wait for the parts to get here.

Anyway I will need to do the centering mod or magnet mod, I am starting to notice bbs are rolling out of the barrel so check your email soon about that!

That is .174 not .124 though, right?

My mistake, I meant .174 not .124....if the bore was anywhere near .124 that WOULD BE A MAJOR PROBLEM.

I will edit my post to avoid further confusion.

One thing I do know is the difference between 0.124 to 0.125 maybe less then a blonde's pu&&y hair but going from 0.125 to 0.175 is for sure greater then a brunette's pu&&y hair.

Yes, and I've found that when taking these delicate measurements, the tongue gauge is far more accurate than the pin gauge.

I am not sure what you guys are concerned about with the bore size. I was not saying that these production barrels are any different than the prototypes I had tested earlier. I was just stating the bore size in a more accurate way, between .124 and .125 is STILL .124 in my book.

The pin gauge is .125 which really is .1248 inches which does not fit. So that means the bore is less than .1248 but more than .1238 (.124 pin gauge). There is no need for you guys to even worry about .001 in tolerance let alone less than that. If you have a pair of calipers dial up .001 and then .0005 and tell me if you think that should be anything to worry about. That's less than a blonde pu$$y hair.

As for being able to see light around the BB....just like TBK said just because their is light does not mean it is a bad thing. If there was NO LIGHT then that would mean the BB would probably not go down the barrel and if it did you would get many jams because the tolerance would be TOO TIGHT.

Trust me with the manufacturing slop that is in BB's you will be thankful for the slightly larger than .1238 bore size because even Daisy BBs have some that are bigger than that every now and then.

Good to hear, thanks for the explaination. Although I am still concerned about finding a BB in the .125 cal diameter.

As TBK said Ray. Can't be .124-.125" A bb would not fit through that bore...

You have your measurement increments off a tad....

Check the blogs on the new barrels at the drozdmax site.

Well that's a start. But it seems that his tests were done with old prototypes, which if I understand his latest few posts correctly, had smaller bores than the ones he just shipped out. And who knows what else changed since then.

And I know i'm being picky but... it was with only one brand of ammo, at one set distance, and with a red dot, not exactly the best sights for paper punching.

I might sight in my scope tomorrow so i'll snap a few pics of the outcome. If no one else wants to join in then o well, no biggie

Smaller bores is not nessarily a bad thing. As long as they aren't too tight, in which case it will jam. The tighter the fit, the more accurate, and the more velocity you will get, from a smoothbore. This is the reasoning behind these.

Re: DrozdMax's New Barrels

The "2"s are really "7"s, though, right? I have the ammo for .125 if anyone is ready for that experiment!!

If it is just a hair over .174" that is good.

That ring of light is not very wide! I've put lead shot in a barrel before and can see light around it and it takes some force to push it through- it won't just slide through.

Another quick note.....

I am noticing some oil and dirt on the inside of the barrels from manufacturing. I am doing my best to clean this out for you guys but I recommend running a patch or two down the barrel to clean out anything I might have missed.

Also I noticed that the bore is between sizes which is a good thing. I am measuring the bore with minus style pin gauges so I can stick a .124 pin gauge (actually .1238) down the bore but I cannot stick a .125 (actually .1248) down the bore. So these barrels are between .124 and .125 caliber which gives a little more clearance. When I drop a .124 copper BB (I use these cause Daisy's are smaller than .124) down the barrel I can see a crack of light all the way around the BB. So hopefully all of this means little to no jamming except for in the case of unusually large BBs.

Everybody who ordered one of these barrels from me, they shipped out yesterday. Please post back here with your feedback and let me and everybody else know how they perform for you.

Hmm, I was hoping for a tighter bore like the prototypes. I want the best accuracy I can get and that means not having a BB bouncing around while it travels down the barrel. From what you describe, seeing light around the BB seems excessive. I might be splitting hairs here and accuracy might be the same as the prototypes. I won't know until I do a test myself while comparing JimC's barrels to Ray's new ones.

Re: DrozdMax's New Barrels

The symantics of this: Drozd's are NOT "BB" guns, they are PELLET guns for spherical lead pellets. The big difference is that pellet guns have rifled barrels. "BB" guns made for steel bb's are always smooth bore (and have a magnet in the breech). Steel bb's are made slightly smaller than lead pellets, so that you can use them in a pellet gun without destroying the rifling (although it still isnt very good for them). Steel bb's will never impart any spin from any rifling, so bb guns are smoothbore. The difference for accuracy is tollerances, here, there is more headroom for a steel bb in a rifled pelletgun barrel, so they tend to bounce around in the barrel.
The short answer is that these smoothbore barrels will be subsantially more accurate, and will wear a lot less when shooting steel bb's, but you can't shoot lead balls with them. Nothing will be more accurate than lead balls through a rifled barrel, but if you shoot steel, these are the hot trick. They should increase the velocity, as well, as the tighter fit wont allow as much blowby. I can't shoot lead with my bb mag, since it gets jammed in the auger. Mostly everyone shoots steel.

X222 , all you guinea pigs get to work, i'm giving you until the 31st of oct to finish your homework

But seriously, I'd love to see a proper comparison of these barrels. Not just the bluing, but actual groupings and velocities. This is obviously too much work and $ for one man to do, but maybe we can all pitch in and get a good thing going.

Maybe have a test between the stock 7", both rifled & smooth bore 15" & 23" barrels from a bench rest at 5 yard increments. 10 shot groups with copperheads and daisies.

Who ever has one of those 5 barrels can hopefully take the time to print out a few groups and share them here.

I can cover the stock 7", anyone else wanna play?

More good news, at least to my Canadian friends, yes I will give you guys free shipping as well. If you are in Canada I will send them to you via First Class Mail. According to USPS.com delivery times vary on location so I have no idea how long it will take to be delivered. If you want them sent Priority Mail which is 7-10 day delivery time and has tracking I will have to charge you.
