These were the best batteries, @ 1000mAh, but you'll need to get 2-4 packs, I didn't see these in 2's.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/4pc-x-3-2V-LiFePO4-Lithium-AA-Rechargeable-Battery-14500-1000mAh-Cell-Pack-/360464842706?pt=UK_ConsumerElectronics_Batteries_SM&hash=item53ed60ffd2
And this was the cheapest charger, even though it has 4 slots, and can do nickel batteries, as well. You'd still need 2 of them to charge all the batteries at once, though.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Multi-LiFePo4-Li-ion-AA-AAA-14500-CR123A-18650-Battery-rechargeable-Charger-/160827253174?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item25720d21b6
But this is the simple solution, I think, no dummy batteries, or mixing, and as a bonus, LifePo4 batteries have an average life of 2000 charge/discharge cycles, about 4 times that of any other type of rechargable batteries. They also have twice the "C" rate of Li-ion cells, but they only have half the capacity, which nullifies the difference there. It also translates into half the use = twice the charge cycles, but since they have 4x as many of those, you still come out with twice the life expectancy.

I had a pm conversation getting Semper5's batteries happening, he went with the LifePo4 14450 cells going, and the good news is that they have a slightly lower voltage than the Li-ion cells do, and you can run 6 of them with Sergey's board, no dummies, no mixing and matching. This is what he had to say:
Quote:

Yeah, you're thinking of Li-ion batteries having a voltage of 4.2V at full charge. Lifepo4 batteries have been said to peak at 3.65V. This is another reason why you can NEVER use Lifepo4s in a Li-ion charger because the charger will put out 4.2V and damage (maybe explode) the Lifepo4s.

I know this is true for my Li-ions that do sit at 4.2V when fully charged. But I noticed my Lifepo4s sit at around 3.3V...I'm almost sure that it's my charger as there's a switch I can select for either Li-ion or Lifepo4, and respectively the switch cuts off what max voltage to charge the batteries.

They do work great, but I have to make sure the dummy battery + end is the first to contact the board because the nipples on the Lifepo4 batteries won't touch the contact on the board properly. If I do use 6 batteries I could dab a bit of solder on one battery nipple to make the contact.

So based on my readings of 3.3V on my Lifepo4s here's my calculations:

6 x 3.3V = 19.8V (w/ current voltage per battery)
6 x 3.6V = 21.6V (w/ desired voltage per battery)

So I think either way, 6 would be fine. I think I read that one should not exceed 22V to maintain safe operation and heat dissipation.

These were the best batteries, @ 1000mAh, but you'll need to get 2-4 packs, I didn't see these in 2's.

The ones I used to use were the gray Trustfire's. They are 900mAh also. I believe they are the same as the "red and black", just a different label.

I found a place in Hong Kong.It may be the place I ordered the others. The shipping from HK is pretty reasonable considering the distance a one hell of a lot cheaper than those bandits in UPS. I will take a look at chkhobbypartz.com but 6 trustfires is more than enough.Fully charged they are 25.2 and over Sergey's board limit of 24 volts. GD.

I need two more Trustfires( Black,Red) 51mm .They are the 900mah ones. I don't think I can get to 2000rpm without them. These are protected, I think.I also see blue ones are they okay to use? GD.
