I've been told that my water is fairly soft. If you need a darker tint, just add a half-cup of salt to the solution.

Pure curiosity, do you know what your water quality is like?
Mine is hard hard hard, and it took me an hour to get the same coloring under high heat. Water is so hard it limes up everything and checks off the scale with any water hardness test you can get in a pet store, even the ones for extremely hard water.

http://www.craftsetc.com/Storage/ProductImages/492553.jpg its a lighter blue, i dont plan on leaving it in TOO long, long enough so it looks blue and covers up the yellow/orange brown color it is now

Yikes!!!
If you leave the parts in the royal blue dye too long...they will turn so dark...that it will be black.

Ive worked with color dyes in my business and have used bleach to strip for redying synthetic clothes. Bleach is fairly persistant and will crystalize and make redying a btch unless you effectively neutralize any remainder with white vinegar. Just a suggestion if you try, Let us know.

Wow that will be a tough one, going darker is safe, bleach or glass beading will be the only choices now.

I would use 2 boxes of black dye keep the temp up but not too hot use rubber gloves or tongs and turn frequently you should be able to dye over the brown no problem.

Okay if you have a BBQ use that instead of a stove you are lucky you did not ruin your kitchen. Watch the heat put on heavy rubber gloves and make sure the liquid temperture feels real warm but not boiling as you do not want to ruin your gun, good luck.

Well as I was pouring the first package of dye into the turkey tub on the stove, I see a black pool quickly start to cover my stovetop. I look on the side of the tub and find that a sharp piece of plastic punched a nice hole in it, and black water is flowing out. So I dumped the whole thing down the sink and cleaned up the mess, luckily there was no staining in the kitchen.
Now my drozd is in pieces looking like shit, and my hands are black. Guess I'll give it another go tomarrow.
