The guy in the video, Andrew, used to be here, Spacelysprocket. No one has heard from him in over a year.
I guess you could try calling chip9machining to see if he still works there.

WE really need a high cap mag. I like the JimC design, compact.
spacelysprockets had a working design for one, but no one has heard from him in a long time.

Here's one,
I want to propel a BB with nuclear power, since Gamma particals travel at the speed of light, I think it will make a huge increase on the FPS. now if I can only get some U238.

Hello Audiobill. A lot of exciting mods have already been done. Barrels, boards, stocks and valves. This gun has come from 520fps to 1065fps. It has also come from 600rpm to 1200rpm and full auto. There are lots of areas that hold promise. The gasket , valve and exspanion chamber are big ones. There is perhaps 100-200fps here. The holy grail is the hope of a big drum high cap magazine which Jim. C. is working on. A better drozd board which one day Totlah will produce. Better/harder .177 round ball ammo. One of the sad things is people come up with a new idea or modd and it works and then they disappear. We need people with electronic and machining back grounds. Here hoping. GD.

I shot my Drozd pre/post barrel (all other being equal) and noticed a huge difference in penetration of a 4x4.
Unfortunately, gun went out of commission during my chip mod. I should be getting a fix soon via mail. I just got a Chrony last week. Once I get the fix from DrozdMax, I'll give you pre/post FPS numbers between stock and my 24" barrel.

Has everyone had this kind of accuressey(sp?) increase with the
'23 inch' barrel? Are there any problems with it like the balance change of the gun? Weight?

Russian airgunner, when disassembling drozd, just simply disconnect wires with soldering iron.
And put it back when assembling. Simple soldering iron cost only $2-3...

We keep reading about how hard the solenoid is to "break" or "pop" free when removing it for refinishing the stock. The trick to this is to simply back out the retaining screw to the upper right of the solenoid. It cinches up a knurled nut that locks the solenoid in place. Just tap gently on the retaining screw and that will loosen up that knurled nut. The solenoid will then unscrew easily with two fingers. No sweat.

Everything you need to do this is under Barrel Extension: Instructions and Drawings http://azure.bbboy.net/straferbbmachinegunownersgroup-viewthread?forum=10&thread=45 . You can see a pic of the gun with the extension in Potentiometer Adjustment/Velocity test http://azure.bbboy.net/straferbbmachinegunownersgroup-viewthread?forum=10&thread=39 .

Right you were Max, I had to use what I would call a large amount of force with both hands to get the magnet to pop free. I thought I had "wailed" on it but the thing sounded like a shot from the gun when it gave! Anyhow the point is I painted with some Krylon ultra black and should have done it day one! Don't be afraid to take your Drozd down and paint it!!! Some prep with a chisel and some sandpaper really made the middle of the cast look fluid and not like one of those old wax blow mold animals from the zoo.
Does anyone have the dimple in the breach of the barrel? I'm starting to think its just mine! Check your barrel for me please!

No- there's no thread lock. If you take out the screw torward the front top part of"electromagnet" it will loosen up. The screw acts like a clamp on the front part where the threads are. You must give it a good twist to break free counterclockwise.

How does the electromagnet come out? The thing must have some kind of thredlocking compound on it. And no one has noticed the dimple inside the breach....I think its to compensate for the pitch of the magazine in the frame.

Thanks for the disassembly instructions man. I seriously appreciate you posting them. I have tried to figure out where to begin with disassembly since I got the gun but was afraid I'd break something in the process. Your step by step guide was a big help. At least now I can paint they yellow parts more easily. Do you think there would be any added benefit to installing a longer airgun barrel and threading the tip for a moderator?

All you have to do is unscrew the threaded bushing at the muzzle of the barrel. After doing that, hold the grip with one hand and the forend with the other hand and carefully separate them about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch, then remove the black cover behind the rear sight which covers the solenoid.
After doing this you basically have two choices: either unsolder the two wires at the solenoid or cut the wires were the two halves meet. I suggest you do the latter and install some pin connectors ( I used AMP type pins/sockets) so that you don't have to solder/unsolder these wires every time you want to take the gun apart. After that, slide the foregrip out of the barrel and remove the two screws of the black cover. If you want to tap out that plug covering the access hole for the pot, you will have to remove the circuit board so you will need to remove the trigger by pulling it up. Watch that trigger spring when you do this because if you are not careful you will be spending the next two hours looking for it. Once the trigger is out, the circuit board will be loose and can be taken right out. The barrel unscrews right out of the grip half of the gun. I didn't notice any dimples inside of the breech of mine, but then I wasn't looking. I will check the next time I take it apart........Hope this helps.

I've noticed the inside of the barrel at the breach has a dimple in it. I didn't notice which way it was facing before removing the barrel does anyone know which clock position it should face? I'm guessing 12? And does anyone know how to remove the electromagnet?

Well I can't speak for anyone else in this forum but I am interested in knowing how to get the gun apart. I lookd carefully and didn't see any screws or bolts holding it together and don't know where to begin. I was able to remove the black dot on the right side of the body and got to the adjmustment screw beneath it by using an eyeglass screwdriver. By turning the screw fully clockwise until it could go no further I am now getting full power from the gun and getting 30 shots per C02 capsule. Highly interested in getting a longer barrel for it though and any help in how to open the gun and replace the barrel is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance | ||||

I am really curious to see how you did the barrel extension. How did you attach it to the end of the existing barrel? Does the longer barrel have any adverse effects on the gun in burst mode? Just curious if it is hard on the gun if you crank it up to 600rpm and have that longer barrel on it.
I wonder what the optimum barrel length is for these.

I took mine apart yesterday to perform some of the internal modifications talked about in this forum. The first thing I did was to cut the two wires to the solenoid and solder pin connectors to them. I can now disassemble this gun completely in less than 2 minutes. Once the circuit board is out, the plug that covers the access hole to the solenoid adjustment pot can be easily tapped out from the inside of the frame with a screwdriver. The pot in my gun had the slot in the horizontal position and I would imagine that each gun is different as there must be some type final test at the factory were they need access to this pot after the gun is assembled, otherwise why bother putting a hole there? They certainly don’t want anybody else fooling with this adjustment, otherwise they wouldn’t glue the plug in. I will start playing with this adjustment some time next week and I will post the results. I also tried backing out the solenoid but it wouldn’t budge, so I stopped before breaking it. The resistor mod does not make any sense to me. I looked at the back of the card and could not pinpoint what resistor this russian guy is taking about. Personally, I think that 600rpm is fast enough and at this point, I rather spend the time increasing the muzzle velocity than increasing the rate of fire.
I have already added an 11 inch barrel extension to the gun, which has increased first magazine average muzzle velocity from 455 fps to 635 fps (highest shot clocked at 694 fps and another 2 clocked between 675 and 685fps, but I disregarded these. Lowest shot was 606fps). I am hopping that twicking the pot will increase the average velocity by 25 or 50fps, with the higher shots zipping along at over 720fps. By the way, the stock barrel in this gun is only 7.312 inches, not 10 inches as stated in the manual and all the websites, so my barrel is now 18.312 inches long. Additionally, with the longer barrel my groups have been reduced to half of what they were with the s [ Continued ] View Rest Of Post

I was able to pop off the little black cap over the solenoid with a knife. It seems as though it was designed so that you can adjust the solenoid and put the cap back in.
When I look at the solenoid it is in the same position as a backslash ( \ ). Does anyone know what will happen if I turn it to another postiion? Will this by itself give me more power? No one seems to have commented on this adjustment capability.
