By lengthening the carrier, the spring tension went up. It needed a little adjustment so I snipped the a few coils off the spring. Just about, but not quite. So, I cut an o-ring groove for a full seal on the bolt body for more recocking force. Unbelievable recoil!! So, I went back to a full strength spring. Even though the bolt weight is higher, the recocking sequence is now faster (about 65-70ms), so the rate of fire is about 900 rpm. It rips and gives a great recoil effect. My additional testing showed that it is very reliable in all aspects. The cool thing is it feels very powerful with the recoil effect so it doesn't even feel like you are shooting an airgun. The velocity is at 685 fps with daisy bbs through the 12" barrel. TBK

I am making the bolt "carrier" a little longer to resolve a slight conflict with the spring and sear. Just about done. I am going to leave the weight a little higher and check the ROF. If above about 700 rpm then I will leave, otherwise I will lighten it back up for 800 + rpm. TBK

I shot over the chrony just prior to the video to get the velocity, but didn't check the ROF again. In the video it sounds pretty fast, but I measured recently at 800rpm. I'll double check it.

It is shooting 675 fps which is right in the ballpark of what I wanted. That is through a short 12 or 13" Crosman 760 barrel, so the fit of Daisy bbs is not very good. Nice performance for that short barrel and full auto, though. Tried to take a video with my regular camera, but don't know how it came out yet. TBK

I wasn't really trying for an exact scale model, but just a general sense of the Thompson. I had a few ideas along the way that got it to this point. It looks really good. There are still a few things I could still do, but decided to call this one done.
