busy servers
For the past couple weeks its almost been a constant thing with busy servers. Will this be rectified anytime soon? It doesn't seem to make a difference what time we are on the board, its slow almost constantly, and 9 times out of 10 we get the busy notice.

Re: busy servers
I find it hard to believe you encounter that many high demand errors on frost. If you are repeatedly hitting refresh, then sure, you'll add to the load on the server and everyone else on frost will get that alert. I have a board on frost and hardly ever encounter a high demand error. I am on your board right now and have moved around to different areas without once hitting any high demand alerts.

Are you having pages time out or are you actually seeing our high demand please wait a fewminutes and try again page? I loaded pages and a thread as fast as any other board on the network. Do you have a firewall or something that might be interfering with the way your browser gets information from the network?

Re: busy servers
Nope, no firewall, and I was just there and posted a note and got another busy notice.

It just seems as though its been getting slower and slower lately, and the notices seem to be almost constant, especially at night.

Re: busy servers
We're having the same problem, I was just coming over to post about it as well. I get them about every 2-3 minutes and constant complaints from the members about losing their post they just typed out and when they hit submit they get the high demand page. It seems like for us its been the last week or so. Also the board seems to be running considerably slower then normal too the past week.

Oh, we're on the frost server also.

Re: busy servers
I'm on this same board with Nun and the messages are almost constant. I've probably 20 server is busy notices just this morning. I do not have a firewall, so I know that's not it. And I'm not hitting refresh, it's just the normal postings on the board.

Re: busy servers
Pamster, I am not complaining because I understand what the notice is, but our frost board too has been overwhelmed the last 48 hours+ with the notices, where gals are getting them 4-5 times an hour. I assumed it was just from our postathon (well I had hoped it was LOL)
Just letting you know. I am keeping a log of my times I receive the message today. And my gals know to wait at least a minute before hitting submit again after they have backed the page up.

Re: busy servers
I was just on again and noticed you have the forums open for guest viewing and posting-if you want to cut down on the resources the board uses and lower the frequency of those alerts, you can make the restrictions to users, mods & admins so that google isn't spidering the board-since they do that more then twice a month lately. Also lower the 'Number of Threads shown in the Threadlist' in forums to be 20 or 25 instead of 40 like you have it at-believe it or not that definitely has an effect on how much resources the board is drawing upon and therefore will affect the server load. Also lowering the 'Posts Per Thread Page' to 20 from 30 will have a impact on the server load as well.

Re: busy servers
I would like to add that right now the past few days google has been spidering the network (any board open to guest viewing is open to them) and if you want to cut down on those High Demand alerts you can disable guest viewing and posting. We have done that here in all forums but two because the spidering was relentless.
