Two questions: - Can you give us even a small list of some of the bigger, better features? The v2 page doesn't say much. Can we expect a better chat engine? Better BbBoy games? User names that don't have to be shared with OTHER BbBoy members? (Example: a guy on my forums REALLY wants the name "GRIM" but he can't have it because some other person who signed up to BbBoy two years ago and hasn't posted since already has the name.) - Will a simple domain name like the one I already (www.dieforums.com) have work for my "own web hosting to run it on?" |

BbBoy isn't online right now and I know he will be able to help answer this better then I can, but it is like having your own seperate system-you install it (it's easily done ![]() ![]() |

Thanks a lot. If I can only get some more people into donating we're for sure getting this. |

If you have no intention of purchasing the new version, does it affect the rest of us? I mean, are regular users getting an upgrade or is V2 just a purchase version and that's it? :) |

What happens to the credits that I already have in my board? I'm on the Variable Plan, and I'm curious what will happen to any remaining credits in the board. |

How is this any different than BbBoy v1? The look I can see, but that isn't enough to get me to pay $150. How about features? Chat, games, etc. How much hosting space do we have? How many of those suggested features (the ones we can vote on; I can't think of the "technical" name) are in this v2 thing? Since no one's answered this question yet:
And what's the difference between business and personal use? I mean, why's one so much more expensive? |

v2 is a completely seperate product. Your existing board here on bbboy.net would still be here, along with it's credit. ![]() Hi Josh,
I believe that Froggy meant that that's the best place to go to ask questions about v2 - the v2 support forums. ![]()
Everything is different - it's a complete rewrite.
If you want to see the features for yourself, the best thing I can recommend is a Free Trial. ![]()
bbv2 is unlikely to ever have games, as it's aimed more at professional uses. However, a (much better than the bbboy.net) chat is planned.
None. v2 is a downloadable software product - you download it and host it on your own server. It's not hosted for you. Hosting will hopefully be offered within a couple of months, as an extra, if you need it. But as I said, v2 is a completely seperate product.
Lots of them. ![]()
Yes, lots of web hosts support domain names.
Please take a look at this FAQ entry. |

I go to the site to log-in. I log in, correct password and username, and I get a screen that says smething like, "there was an error. Someone is logged into your account (probably you) and..." blah, blah, blah. It then offers me the chance to forcefully log "myself" off and send a reactivation e-mail to my Hotmail account. I get the e-mail immediately and check it maybe two seconds after it's sent. I then click on the link right away (and realize that I do this all within the span of 45 seconds or so) and the screen I get to says that the link has become inactive and that I must click the link within three hours. Three hours? It took me less than a minute to get through all of the steps and get there! Well, it then tells me to try to send the e-mail again, and I do that and it doesn't send the e-mail! I was waiting for the one e-mail for two days and it didn't show up -- even though the other one just like it showed up within a split second! So I do the same thing over today and same results. "Someone is already logged in...," send reactivation e-mail, click link, inactive link notice, send another reactivation e-mail, and no e-mail comes. What's the deal? |

Just to confirm - is this with your own copy of the software, or our v2 support forums? If it's with your own copy, could you give me the URL to it please? support@bbv2.com or on the v2 support forums would be preferred, as it's likely to be seen a lot quicker than here. ![]() |

With some boards moving over do you think that the High Demand errors will be reduced? Also, we joined Bbboards because of the features that were expected to be added to the current version, including a chat forum that actually works. I sort of feel left behind... |
BbAdmin 23:34:45 Fri Mar 5 2004 |
Yes your current board credit can be applied towards the purchase of the V2 software, however we do not host it-that is the major difference between this V1 network (BbBoard-Best Boards) and the bbV2 system. V2 is something the admin sets up on their own server. ![]()
The High Demand errors will happen less frequently once we get the frost server purged of the dead inactive boards. Because those are most likely left open to gues viewing even if there is nothing new the search engine spiders will come twice a month to load pages and that is the same as a regular user moving around the board. The High Demand errors seem to happen more when they are spidering the boards. Usually the first week of the month and then in the middle of the month and we have no control over that. I do believe we will be adding a new chat zenobias, so that isn't part of what was meant in developing new features in that email. We aren't punishing V1 members in any way, I hope that others aren't taking this that way. If so I hope I have helped to put your mind and anyone else's at ease over what that email means. I am not sure if you read the announcement I made yesterday about this: http://bb.bbboy.net/support-viewthread?forum=10&thread=28 If anyone has any questions let us know here. ![]() |

I thought there was a rent option for BBv2? I understood that to rent one formbbboy would include hosting on a server of "yours". Did I misunderstand or what? I'm seriously thinking of upgrading. That word implies to me hosting service as well... since I already have it. anyway... If I can come up with the funds, I am seriously thinking about an upgrade if possible. Poimen |

Also, if this can be done, is there a way to add the Bv2 banner to the welcome page.. or at least the bottom of the main page... rather than the top? frost.bbboy.net/bibleanswers thanks Poimen |
Pamster 03:40:22 Wed Mar 17 2004 |
Are you just looking for a V2 banner to link to the V2 site for? If so I will talk with BbBoy in the morning and see if there is one you could use-I think you could just use the one we have and link to it alone so that no other advertising would display. ![]() That is what you are looking for right? If there is a URL to one we have I will reply with it and I will see if I can make a banner link in the bottom of a board welcome page and get back to you on that. Believe it or not there are some features I haven't experimented with yet. ![]() ![]() |
