Do we have to?
Hello! I was wondering, for people who own boards, like myself, who can't download it to their server, will you be keeping the current boards we have now? Or do we HAVE to switch?

I could never use any computer to download since I use my work, and my parents home computer.

I got the e-mail and got the impression that we HAD to switch.

Thanks for helping me out with these answers!

I love BB Boy and would HATE to have to switch :thankyou:

Re: Do we have to?
Hi MomtoKirstyn,

From the bbV2 FAQ

Quote:

I currently have a Fixed/Variable plan board hosted at BbBoy.net. Will I be forced to move to V2 when it comes out?

Absolutely not. We will still be running the Fixed/Variable plan boards here on our servers. V2 will be a completely seperate product, and a completely seperate web site.

So I can continue hosting my Fixed/Variable plan board here?

Yes. The Fixed/Variable plan boards hosted here with us will always be hosted here with us - running V1.x software as it is now. V2 will be a completely seperate product.

Re: Do we have to?
I got the email and was wondering about it myself. The email said that http://bb.bbboy.net isn't accepting new boards and probably won't have upgrades.

So our boards are going to be untouched, and they will be running just the same right? I was just wondering why there won't be any more upgrades to the pre-existing boards not on V@..b/c I know I cannot afford to switch to V2.

That email had me worried b/c it said testingfrost had higher than normal detected as using higher than average disk space or CPU time. I was VERY confused and thought it was MY board Lol Whew....

Thanks for responding

Re: Do we have to?
I just forwarded it judy, it doesn't make sense to me either. I was VERY confused about that email. When you click on the link here : http://frost.bbboy.net/testingfrost which is what I was told to be an Admin of (I just thought it was frost in general?) it has a place to enter your board ID and then if you enter it, it does nothing. Weird!!!!

Re: Do we have to?
Anyone can go and bulk email their users and if they don't put in a subject it will look like the email came from bbboards when it didn't.

Re: Do we have to?
Actually chickenlady I just talked with BbBoy about it and this is true and the email was from him. We will be doing some upgrades, but they are mostly fixes. We've been releasing fixes in mini-releases so this isn't anything new. But we are no longer making any free trial boards at this time.

Re: Do we have to?
It's ok chickenlady. This was done yesterday but I didn't actually read the email until an hour ago. BbBoy sent it out to heavier bandwidth board admins.

Re: Do we have to?
What constitutes over the bandwidth limit? We only have about 35 members and I got an email. I also received an email regarding a board that's been deleted.

Re: Do we have to?
I didn't know my bandwidth was that high either...but maybe it is? I still haven't gone close to a 1gb per month...

Thanks for clearing this up.

Re: Do we have to?
Well, I'm totally confused! We have 35 members and were sent an email for being over the bandwidth and I just went to Chickenlady's site and it says she has 1015 members and didn't get an email???? Please clarify what constitutes over the bandwidth to me.

Re: Do we have to?
It is more about CPU usage then straight bandwidth debbie. I am going to post an announcement about this in a moment and will answer questions from here in it.
