Board Settings & Denied Access
For reasons I am not sure off (as in I did not change the settings) the forums on my board have transformed their layout somewhat.

1. First of all forums usually viewable to members of the board now say they do not have permission to view them.

2. Subforums are now appearing as full forums.

3. Hidden forums are showing up (although like all others no one but admins can access them.)

4. Finally the contents of out first forum have apparently vanished.

Could someone please have a peep for me and see if they can please help me rescue this small disaster than has befallen us?

Thankyou so kindly in advance

Hi Herald_M.Are you the only admin of the board(if there are others can you check with them also) and had you added any new codes before this happened? Also check to see if you have a current backup.

Can you check in edit forums(any forum will do),edit settings and see what this is set to?"Who can view this forum & the threads in it?"

Re: Board Settings & Denied Access
Hi hon, thanks for looking into this for me. There are other admins on the board. From the information I am getting no one actually 'pressed any forum realted buttons' in the past 24 hours (other than myself after I discovered this unfortunate turn of events  )

I checked the settings and there is a mixture there of all and specified users. I did check one forum before originally posting (but I confess I was tired and confused after trying a few remedies) but now having checked some others I see some specified users are in among them. I can try manually change all of the those later (after catching some shut eye *winks* ). In the same way I can manually return all the subforums into place. But as you can see we have *alot* of forums so its going to be some task as I swap in and out of an admin account to measure the success of my efforts.

I'm curious how the whole board can be changed in this way though and is there an easier way to reverse the damage. Do you think you could offer me a quick explanation?

By the way the missing posts have appeared once more so thats one less thing to worry about. I just hope the little tikes stay there this time!

Hi Herald_M

Do you remember which BbFeatures you used (admin, mod or normal member) just before all the changes occurred?

Also, have you searched your board log to see if theres any details on when everything changed, and to make sure an admin hasn't changed anything?

Re: Board Settings & Denied Access
Nickdisk offered good advice on where to start looking Herald_M, so I would search the log using each admin's username to see what pops up and if they restored from backup that would explain how settings would change for the entire board if it was reverted to an earlier time. Have you tried changing the viewing restrictions on the forums back to what you wanted and they did not stay that way? Also if you can remember what you did and answer the question Nickdisk posed above that might help in tracking what is going on.
