I fixed your post for you Momsheri, you forgot the end whisper tag and i added in the htmlcode tag so it wouldn't stretch the page

Thanks I was half asleep and had added something else thenc hanged my mind and sent it before I saw it missing. I hate not being able to edit the things myself. Do I just use the < html > to make it not stretch? I will remember that.

It's a custom BbCode located on the bbcode selector-should be the last one there. If you see those ads again just let us know Momsheri. Thanks for posting the information for us so we could remove it from the network.

Thanks for the source on that Momsheri, I am letting BbBoy know about it and just to show people what part is what we need to see this is an example of what we need to identify which ad network sent the offending advertisement:

Code:

<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript" src="http://www.popuptraffic.com/assign.php?l=mlwr"></script>
<!-- End Best Boards Advert Code -->

Thanks again Momsheri, BbBoy should take care of this soon.

Hi,
I've gotten 3 complaints in the last few days about a popup ad on our board triggering virus software and reporting the bloodhound.exploit trojan. I don't have the source, but have asked for it next time it appears. Can anyone check our db?

Thanks,
Anne

Sept. 6th at 10:17pm EST, I had a pop-up ad containing the trojan Trojan.ByteVerify (caught by Norton) appear when I visited my board. One pop-up add was from X10, and the other was from IP address 64.27.100.65 (in the directory /scripts/popup.php?hid=...).

Thanks, there have been a load of them lately, but I don't always have time to paste the code in for you, though I know I should. I know they are loading some bad stuff onto my pc as well. Takes more time to clean up the computer after using it than I have to enjoy it these days. So sad, that the internet world has come to this, isn't it?

Re: The attacking ad
Unfortunately the only way we can find out if something isn't right and more ads are being shown then agreed to is by having members report it to us. I really appreciate your help with this Momsheri. Just to show you the part of the code we need-it's really just the first few lines:

Code:

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">
<html><head><title>Calgon Corner 3</title> <!-- Begin Best Boards Advert Code (FREE Plan!!) -->
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript" src="http://www.popuptraffic.com/assign.php?l=mlwr"></script>
<!-- End Best Boards Advert Code -->

That way we can ID the advertising network that the offending ads are coming from. Thanks again for the help with this one.

Yes, we are loosing memebers to this. One person said they had to pay $350 to get this crap off their system.

What is it you need from us to stop this?? I've been getting TONS of pop ups. Where to begin?

I was hoping to hear from someone by now, this is a serious problem for us. We are intentionally a very small board and potentially this is the end for us as a result of this.

Please help.

Silly question...How do you view the source code for the pop-ups? I don't see the typical "View Source" option for the pop-ups ads.

Windowx XP Pro, IE 6.0

Thanks,

I right click on the board page itself, (not the pop up) that will give you the view source for what the board is generating.

I will let BbBoy know that this is happening again. It seems to be the same ad network so perhaps something can be worked out as they should not be sending more then one pop up ad at any given time which is what I understand is happening in this case correct?

That you get multiple pop ups from one page load? Detailed information helps us put an end to this for you. So posting the code from the board page, as Momsheri has, like I listed above, the part that identifies the advertising network is what we need along with any details of what is happening when this happens to you. BbBoy will take care of this tomorrow.

When I access our board, I keep getting a pop-up that asks me to OK the download of some game file. When I click on "No", it won't let me out of the loop. I have to go into my task manager and get out of bbboy to end it.

Another pop-up Trojan 10/1/04 (Trojan.ByteVerify)

Code:

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">
	<html><head><title>FeedMyPet.com Board</title>
<!-- Begin Best Boards Advert Code (FREE Plan!!) -->
                                <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript"
src="http://www.popuptraffic.com/assign.php?l=mlwr&mode=behind"> </script>

<!-- End Best Boards Advert Code -->

Also, How many Ads are we supposed get on the fixed plan? The comment in the code above states "free plan" even though I am on the fixed plan.

Thanks,

Dave

I've already posted the code, and it's the same as Momsheri's and feedmypets. It says "FREE PLAN" also, even though we are fixed.

Yes, I have often gotten multiple pop ups and so have our other members. I have ALSO gotten the Trojan Byte-Verify virus as Momsheri has mentioned.

Could someone PLEASE answer our questions. I admin the same board as YellowDogDem and we've been asking for help now for weeks.

Here's the code again. Yes it is still happening. You wrote this over a week ago, and STILL no resolution. BBboy hasn't shown any interest in this problem at all.

Two more of my members said they have had to reformat their discs.

I've had the Trojan Byte virus.

This is truly awful. The pop ups are relentless.

Please take care of this.

Fantasy Freebies is now getting the exploit-byte verify trojan too. This is upon entry log on and comes up in the second pop up and has changed the ad once with same virus coming on. you cannot delete this virus, you can only quarantine it. I am getting many complaints now about it and it started about 2 weeks ago. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Sheryl
