V1.3.3 has just been released tonight. Here's a run-down of new features and improvements: + Moods ++++++++++++++++++++++++ You now have the ability to choose from a pre-set mood, to display how you're feeling at the current time. Your mood will be shown in your posts. To set your mood, click the "Unspecified" link in the info bar at the bottom of a board. Admins, you have numerous choices regarding moods. Firstly, you can completely disable moods - click on "Edit Board Settings" and check the "Disable Moods" box. Or, you can allow moods, but disable either the "Mood now" or "Post mood" indicators in posts, again in "Edit Board Settings". You can also move the mood indicators to the bottom of posts rather than under the username. Admins, you also have the option of putting certain users' moods in your board template. To do this, click on "Edit Board Template" in your admin center, and enter this where you want it to show up: <BbMood="username"> Change username to the username of the person who you want to display the mood for. + BbGames ++++++++++++++++++++++++ (This option is for fixed/variable boards only, due to the amount of bandwidth it uses. But, it's available to free boards too until the next release, as a trial) There are now 3 BbGames available for admins to put on their boards. Admins, click on "BbGames" in your admin center, and choose from one or all of: + HangMan + Tic Tac Toe (Noughts & Crosses) + Rock Paper Scissors You can add and remove them as you wish. Adding a game again will re-set the game, useful if 2 members start playing, and one disappears. You also have the option of choosing where to display links to the games. You can display them on the main board page, as smaller links on all pages, neither, or both. The rules for the games are pretty self-explanatory. + HangMan - One person is the "host" of the game, and chooses how many players, and the word they are guessing. Once a host has begun the game, players will be able to join. When the game has the number of players the host chose, the game will begin. The players have a certain number of lives to guess the word the host chose. + Tic Tac toe - For 2 players only. Once 2 players have joined, the aim of the game is to get 3 of your character (X or O) in a line - vertically, horizontally, or diagonally. Once one player has got 3 in a row, the game is over. + Rock Paper Scissors - For 2 players only. Once 2 players have joined, they both pick rock, paper, or scissors. Once both players have picked their object, they are compared, and the winner decided - scissors cut paper, paper covers rock, and rock breaks scissors. As it's a short game, it's a best of 3 for the final winner. + Global Board Search ++++++++++++++++++++++++ There is now a global category browse / board search available on our web site, at http://bb.bbboy.net/cat.boy . Browse or search for a board which takes your interest. Admins, to put your board in the category browse / board search, click on "Board-Search Categories" in your admin center. If you remove yourself from all categories, your board will not show up in the categories/search. + Posting By Email ++++++++++++++++++++++++ (This option is for fixed/variable boards only, due to the amount of bandwidth it uses) Admins, you can now allow users to post by sending an e-mail. Click on "Posting By Email" in your admin center to enable this feature. Users will be able to send an e-mail to (for example) yourboard-forum6@bb.bbboy.net , and that will start a new thread in forum number "6" of "yourboard". For more information, see http://bb.bbboy.net/man/howto-emailposting.shtml . If posting by e-mail is enabled, users will also be able to subscribe to recieve all threads/replies in a certain forum, or the whole board, by e-mail. Admins, please note that incoming/outgoing e-mails do add on to your bandwidth usage. Previously, all e-mails were just added onto your overall bandwidth total. Now, there is a special section in your "View Bandwidth" screen to show how many e-mails of each type have been using bandwidth. + Buddy List ++++++++++++++++++++++++ You now have a "Buddy List" in your User CP. By adding users to your buddy list, you will be able to see at a glance whether they are online or offline, see their current mood, and see on which boards they are active. People will have to approve you before they are added to your buddy list. + Edit Board Text ++++++++++++++++++++++++ Admins, you can now edit most of the text that users see around your board. Click on "Edit Text" in your admin center. + Advertise Your Board ++++++++++++++++++++++++ Admins, we are now giving you the opportunity to get more members to your board, by purchasing banner impressions or popup views for your board. Click on "Advertise" in your admin center for more information, and to see our prices. All of the adverts you are purchasing would be shown on our network, so it's highly targeted - if somebody is seeing the advert, you know they are interested in message boards - they're on one right now. + Date Joined ++++++++++++++++++++++++ The date/time that members made their first post on your board are now recorded. There's an extra column in the Memberlist with this information - you can sort by date too, to find the newest/oldest members. + Minor Enhancements ++++++++++++++++++++++++ + The "Edit Users" screen is now in alphabetical order. + Emoticons are now in alphabetical order when using the "select box" easy emoticons option. + Poll results are now displayed to 2 decimal places. + Admins now have the option to move the post time to the right of the subject rather than being underneath the username ("Edit Board Settings"). + Admins now have the option to select who sees IP addresses in posts - admins only, mods & admins, or everyone ("Edit Board Settings"). + IP addresses have been removed from the "Active In Forum/Thread" for none-admins. |

1. How do you get to the BbChat that was mentioned in the pre-release notes? 2. I somehow ended up playing Rock, Paper, Scissors against myself, and now I can't get rid of the game. http://bb.bbboy.net/epinionsbooks 3. I was pressing buttons to see what different ones did, and hit the "Upgrade" button. I figured it would take me to some sort of upgrade information, but instead, it just reloaded the Admin page. sorry! |

I put the games up so I could see them and check them out and now I can't get them to go away. http://bb.bbboy.net/shadowsofamber I tried deleting them, but it just takes me to a blank page (of a sorts. All my graphics are there) and when I go back to the admin center and the games stuff, they are still there. Same problem Grace is having, more or less |

I started playing with the text customization. I had hoped that I would be able to eliminate some of the text in things like "Replies" in the display of the number of replies. For instance, I'd like them the thread list to say "8" instead of "8 Replies". But if I delete all of the text next to "Replies" in the text customization, the header of the column disappears too. (I wanted to keep that! That was the reason why I didn't need the "Replies" in the display of the number of replies!) |

Is there a way to set up the template so that it shows the mood of the person using the board. (I like the mood indicator at the bottom of the page, but I thought it would be nice to put it up near the top of the page too.) BTW, I know that there is a BbMood tag and a BbBoard tag. Are there any other tags like that? |

There might be a way to do that-but then it is already there in the bottom lower right. As for other BbTags that is something BbBoy can answer because I'm not sure.

The Borg one is one of my favorites. The BbMood feature was a pet project of mine and I worked really hard on it with BbBoy so you can bet I am really pleased to see everyone enjoying as much as I knew they would.

Remember that everything here is compressed (upto 400%) for modern browsers, so 300MB will go a long, long way. |
