Why does my board have banner ads?
On 1/01/04, I paid for the $15 yearly subscription so that my board would not have banner ads. I haven't seen any banner ads on my site since then.

This morning, there are ads on my site. I don't see anything in my email, PMs, or on this board about policy changes. What gives?

It's probably just a glitch in the system gracef. I am going to go check on the status-what plan were you on? Fixed with the 2 pop ups oper IP per 12 hours or totally ad free on Variable? :smile:

Also $15 is only six months of Fixed service, not one year...That sounds like you should be on the Fixed plan. :smile:

Did you want to be variable? If so and your board is not very busy then you probably wouldn't go over the $2.50 a month minimum fee. I can see from that where you got the idea it was $15 a year-thank you gracef for posting that I am definitely going to show BbBoy because it really should not be saying that...I have already put it on the fixed plan so it will be 2 pop ups per !P per 12 hours unless you tell me you want to be on variable and I can go fix that for you.

Thanks again for letting us know what happened, sometimes a board will revert like this and we have not been able to pin a pattern down yet-it happens regardless of what server it's on or what plan it should be on. It may revert again in the morning so if it does please let us know. I am going to ask BbBoy to take a look at it in the morning when he is on since I do expect it will revert. Most boards I fix manually do by morning and then BbBoy can fix it. I will check in the morning when I get online and see if it does and if so I will let him know-just need to know which plan you wanted it on. :smile:

One last thing-this was for a recurring billing you'd set up correct? If so can you whisper the Order# so BbBoy can look it up and check into things when he is on in the morning?

Is there a way to get some sort of monthly traffic breakdown for my site?

I had planned on being on the fixed plan, but that was because I was under the (obviously crazed) impression that it was $15 / year and not $30 / year.

If I could look at the traffic for the past year, then I'd have a better idea whether I'm going to go broke on the variable plan.

FWIW, I think what confused me was the page where you select recurring payments for fixed plans. There are two drop-downs... one for an amount and one for the frequency of that amount. If the price of the board is more than $15 per year, I shouldn't have been able to choose the "yearly" option with "$15". I

For fixed plans, you should really only have one drop-down box, with the amount and frequency on it.

Yes, it was a recurring charge, which kind of makes me wonder... How are we going to fix this if I decide that I want to stay on the Fixed plan?

I appreciate the feedback on the recurring billing set up page gracef. I think you can look in the View Bandwidth screen and get an idea of your board's monthly traffic today because this is the end of the month-there will be a total MB used and you can divide that by the number of months you've had the board and that can estimate the monthly pattern your board has had. :smile:

What do you mean how are we going to fix this if you stay on the Fixed Plan? I'm not sure I understand what you mean gracef...I see on the sign up page it does say $2.50 a monthly:

You have chosen the fixed plan, so please enter an amount you wish to pay below - this is your "credit". Every month, $2.50 will be deducted from your credit, so you are effectively pre-paying for several months. You will not be billed recurringly on your credit card - as soon as your credit runs low, you must make another payment

This is all very confusing to me. All I know is that I have a receipt that says that my credit card will be billed $15 annually. I've already paid $15. Yet you say that the card will be billed monthly, but I haven't given official authorization of that.

I don't mean to be obtuse. Really! I have problems enough balancing my checkbook when everything is billed and processed exactly as it should be. So this has really thrown me for a loop.

I would just like to know exactly what I'm going to billed and when and to have some level of comfort that I'm not going to be double billed or have the credit run out on my board.

If you don't have the answer today, I'm cool with that. (It is, after all, Sunday!) If you want to have BBboy PM me tomorrow about this, that's fine.

I was showing something off the Fixed Sign up page to show that the Fixed plan is $2.50 a month, not that you will be charged monthly. I'm sorry if I gave you that impression, I was trying to show you that it does say $2.50 a month and that multiplied by 12 is $30 a year. :smile:

What is it that you need fixed gracef? I still don't follow what is needing fixing if you paid the $15 towards the board, then that will cover 6 months of Fixed service. At the end of 6 months it will revert back to free if you haven't added more credit by then. Above there is says the money you pay towards your board is 'credit' and that is where $2.50 is deducted from, not your credit card. :smile:
