Best way to make a specific forum private? ( 19:37:45 SunJul 21 2002 )

Board Plan: webtv

Hi- I just opened a board here. It's a debate board but one of the forums is a survviors of abuse forum and I'd like to make it a private, but visable, forum, and I can't figure out how to do that.
What I'd really like is an option under forum settings to check off "make forum private" so you could just add members by username.
This isn't an emegency question since I currently only have 1 member. (me)

Hi AmericanWoman,

Just go into your admin center>edit forums> choose the forum you want private and then in the edit forums screen pull down to edit settings on the menu next to the forum you want to have private. In there you need to change the posting restrictions from whatever they are now to "Who can view threads in this forum?-Specified Users, Mods & Admin" is what you need to do and then have the other posting restrictions set to 'users, mods & admin' so that the allowed users will be able to start new threads or polls and reply.

You will have to add members manually-by going into the eidt users>check the boxes by the members you want to add and then pull down to 'Assign Private Forum Access' and that will enable them to be able to access the forum.

Wow- fast reply. Thanks- I got everything set up. Never even noticed the "specified users" under who can view this forum.
