adding catagories and unessecary emails ( 00:41:23 ThuSep 12 2002 )

Board Plan: windows

for some reason , the changes i make to my forum don't stick. when i was changing my color scheme, some of the features kept changing back to default.
and i'm getting an abundance of email whenever i try to delete a forum/catagory or whatever big changes i make, i deleted my email addy from the box for that function, and i still get emials. and on top of that, the forum/catagories will not delete for any reason, they are still there. then when i get to about 10 forum/catagories, it seems that i can't add anymore. please help , i'm at my wits end. thank you for your time.

Ok you didn't have catagories in some of them it looked like so i added them as Main which is where they were. to change that if you wanted them elsewhere you go into Edit Forums-and pick the ones you want moved and then Edit Settings-in there you can change the catagory. Did you make a forum with no name or is that something that appeared on it's own? DO NOT try to delete it-BbBoy needs to look at that. I am working on it still.

Ok we got a lot of us there and I see now that things look ok except for the one forum with no name-had you accidentily made that one or did it appear? The trick with catagories is to name them exactly the same and then to reorder them under the established catagory you want to add it to. All new forums appear on the bottom so by reordering them up into the proper place that eliminates the 'duplicate' catagories effect.

Welcome to Best Boards TheBattosai. I went ahead and change the top teal green table cells to black to better match the color scheme you set up-you can alter those in the Edit Template screen. Give BbBoy a chance to look at that one blank forum # 4 is it I believe, there might be something up if you did NOT make one on accident that was without a name.

i have two more concers:
my mood won't change when i alt to change it, it's still says optimistic when i wan to change it to thrilled

and how can i get stars on my forum to represent a member's ranking going up?
thanks

You can set your forums to be like what we have here on the Support board by going into the individual Forums Settings and in the Posting Restrictions area allow Guest Viewing, Posting and Starting of threads. That will take care of those people who do not want to register-that is the only way people who do not sign up and use a verfiable email can post on boards. You can not regsiter a username without having a valid email address.

Here is a link to the User Level set up in our newest online Tutorial: User Level Set up so that should help you get the User Levels set up to your liking. Welcome to Best Boards TheBattosai.

There are a certain amount of stars under the users info in your catagory, now i read the help guide, and I'm sorry if i'm just not "getting it" but i didn't see anywhere where it specified that options, i'm sure it's there, i just can't find it, or i'm repeatedly missing something. i 'd like to have the stars under my users name go up aswell as their membership ranking. I hate to be a nusiance, but i have some dedicated members coming from another forum and i just want to give them the best.

to set up the star ranking, do i go to the snowflake sections or main settings?

http://denim.bbboy.net/bishonenslavechambers-edituserlevels?

That is where you can add stars to your user levels. You'll see the buttons next to each level for Delete and Image-click the image button and in there you'll see a series of images to choose from that we have for people to use, you can use your own if you like and then you put in the number of images you want displayed and submit the changes...

This is how you get images below user levels-there is no way to get images below usernames however.

If you need anything else let us know-if that wasn't clear enough just ask about what you don't understand and I'll try to help.

one of my members from my other forum, said that she couldn't get on, sign or or register!? i have no idea what happened there, would it be a cookie problem or what.

No trouble at all TheBattosai. You might have your member check out this thread and see if some of the tips in there, including a way to check for cookies, might help them get logged in properly.

Yup, that's right - admins and mods don't get stars for reaching post levels, like normal users do.

However, you can add an image underneath your title, using the admin title box there in "Edit User Levels" if you want to.

I would suggest you get them to read this log in trouble thread for ideas as to what might be causing them difficulties.

Browser and firewall settings can sometimes cause problems too

1.can my mods ban members?
2. the games, can two ppl play or just one, also it says that someone is playing, when actually, that person has been logged off for 30min. and I can play that particular game
3.for some reason (and it may be my fault) i can't add any images under my title just at the top of the where you see the green star now.

thanks for your time

1) No, only admins can ban members.

2) Some games are for 2 people - which particular one are you referring to? The games are still in "beta" which means that enhancements are planned for the future, including fixing the problem where someone has left the game earlier.

3) You should be able to add an image to your title. Go to "Edit User Levels" and where it says "Administrator Privs", there is a box to the left of it.

Whatever your admin title is, type it in that box and then add the following:

Code:

<br><img src="http://imageurl.gif">
