Re: Another odd problem ( 01:38:51 SunFeb 2 2003 ) |
Hiya, yeah it was me who reedited some templates, not the most effecient way, but the code works fine outside of the template and kinda works ok inside it too, but then it starts getting corrupt, and effectively bleeding into other areas like the footer, and then into other fields as well like the edit text boxes.
I can only assume as mentioned there may be some html limit, maybe on physical text size of it or something? I can give u the template html code if you can't check from the links above, but obviously it shouldn't affect other fields. Just some clarification on the size may be enough as I can probably write the html a lot more efficient without duplicating lots of stuff, but as said no matter what it shouldn't affect other areas, and should prevent me using long messy code if theres a restriction on it

'Did you remove half of the edit text or what happened to make that (the bottom half it looked like) all disappear?'
It just disappeared-as far as I know BBoy hasn't fixed it. I haven't seen any changes since I posted originally.
Also, if you look at the template for: http://azure.bbboy.net/sauk-viewforum?forum=28
You'll see that half of the header has moved (by itself) to the footer... ?????
And I can't edit this template at all!!!:http://azure.bbboy.net/sauk-viewforum?forum=26
Pizza knows more about this, so I'll ask him to give more details....

Hiya, we can give u a definitive list of those forums which need to be deleted if we can't ourselves (I imagine most can but thats not the issue), there's a couple more, but pretty much all of them were created as test forums for exactly this kind of purpose (so it didnt mess up the main forums). It's not impacting the site at the moment, except for the fact we don't want to make any changes on the main live site which will cause similar problems as we are seeing here.
Hence I'm happy to leave them for the moment - these are tests, and we'll give u a list of them all willingly if there are any we can't delete, but really you keeping saying this is an html coding problem when it clearly isn't is stifling the fix. If I can use your sample code and create the problem any time I want to, then let me know when you have corrected your sample code, then I shall amend mine to stay inline with the corrections you have made to your template. As I say, I can recreate the problem any time you wish with your own sample html code. You say there is no size limit, so I can only say your sample code is incorrect (which is actually fine), or maybe there is another problem related to the db?
As a simple example here is your html, all i've done is copied your own table to increase the size. You can display it in any web browser, or do it yourself.http://homepage.ntlworld.com/i.brierley/sampletemplate.htm
Just do a view source, and copy into your sample template header (as thats where I copied it from) and check the result and also the footer to see if its bled into it.
