It appears that BbBoy did NOT adjust the Bb server over the Easter weekend - we (or I) thought he must have done, because of the apparently sudden drop in these messages being generated.
It would appear that this was happening because users who weren't yet aware of the free boards having been deleted, were trying to access them over the weekend and constantly retrying when they had no success. Each instance of that resulted in a "server request". The holiday weekend also added to the demand of course and it's also possible that the intermittent but repetitive high activity of "google bots" also contributes to the congestion. Luckily things have settled down now, but until users finally realise that those boards are really gone for ever, we may get sporadic repetitions of this problem.
With regard to the azure server, any temporary overload there will be corrected when the free boards are deleted sometime within the next month.
Just to recap what these messages mean:
It actually doesn't matter how many users there are on an individual board - it's the amount of activity on the server itself. If the server receives xxx requests all in the same instant, then it can't handle more than a certain number. In that case, it rejects the ones it can't handle (the ones at the end of the queue so to speak) and gives the users that message. This is NOT a bug.
I've asked BbBoy to doublecheck all servers, just to make sure there's nothing else going on.
If you get the occasional "server busy" message, this is normal
, so there's no need to rush over here and report it - just wait a couple of minutes before trying again. We'll monitor things at our end as much as we can, to make sure everything's OK - we are as anxious as you are to minimise any inconvenience to users. Board URL
