Help needed with 'last post' feature ( 01:35:38 SunJan 25 2004 )

Hi,

We have an major problem overhere.

It seems that the function 'last messages on top' is down.

When i am in an forum part and i click the 'T' of the last post, the newest replys are standing on top.
But when i go to the startscreen of our forum it is stil the same like nothing happened...

We are replacing now everything on our board now so its a big problem suddenly ;-(

Please help us out :thumb:

Hi Lter,

I'm not sure exactly what it is you're looking to do. If you want the board to display replies in threads in 'Reverse Order' there is a setting in the "Edit Board Settings" screen under the Small Customization heading. The T & U on the Forum Threadlist page is only for organizing the threads on the list-for either thing, either last posted or start date.

If this wasn't what you're looking for Lter, then can you explain a bit more about what it is you're trying to achieve?

Hi Bbadmin,

Yep that's what i was asking for, 'the last posted' option with the 'T'.

Usually it was always when you clicked it you'ld get the latest reply's on top. And they stayed put.

Now it is when i click the 'T' they stay on top too, but when i go to another part of the forum and i come back to the part i clicked the 'T' on, the older messages are back on top again.

So i want the messages with the latest replys on top again

Another problem that we have now is when we are in an forum part, and we click on 'mark all forums read' the envelopes are not going away hehehe...

I don't know what i am doing wrong Admin

Thanks!

Hi Lter,

I enabled the 'Reverse Post Order in Threads' for you and do see it working. Is that what you were needing done? With that enabled are newest replies showing first for you now in threads?

Hi BbAdmin,

Yeh its working now, but that wasn't really my problem

The big problem on our site is that when we are on our 'start' screen of the forum with all the forum names, and we select an forumpart like 'Zuid-Holland' all the dates of the threads are mixed up.

Normally with the 'T' of last posts the last one is on top.

When you click the 'T' it works fine, but when you go back to the startscreen of the forum and you go back to 'Zuid-Holland' everything is mixed up again.

Usually it was still the latest reply on top but now its not.

There is somewhere a bug i think.

I hope you can find it or else we have a very big problem over here...

Hi Lter,

So you're saying the main board page and its "Last Posts by" is where the trouble is? That the date and times are wrong there? If that is what you're having trouble with I'll ask BbBoy to take a look at it for you tomorrow. For now I am going to do a manual Forums Recount and see if that helps. It will be done in about five minutes Lter, so if this fixes it please let us know.

Hi BbAdmin,

Well, its not on the main board page, but when you select an forumpart, thats where the trouble is.

But i found an solution for myself here.

I copied the link of the 'T' :

http://emerald.bbboy.net/boardname-viewforum?forum=17&order=lasttime

Then i put the following html in the Display Name at the forum settings:

<a href="http://emerald.bbboy.net/boardname-viewforum?forum=17&order=lasttime">Zuid-Holland</a>

So when somebody is clicking on the forumlink, the threads are automatically in the right position

So i guess that its fixed now BboyAdmin...

Another problem that i cannot fix for myself is that the command 'mark all forums read' works fine on the main board page, but it does not remove the envelopes in an forum page anymore.

I hope you guys can find out why, and then i won't bother you anymore for a while :thumb:

Thanks for your help,

Walter

Hi Lter,

Glad the other problem is resolved now. I thought it might fix things for you. As for the other, do you have the setting checked for "Mark Threads Read With Forum
(Marks all threads read when marking a forum read)" If you have that enabled in the Edit Settings screen in your User CP then the envelopes will go away even if you've not read everything. Try looking at that and see if that doesn't help.

Please don't worry about posting with questions or trouble. We are always here to help. :thumb:
