A question ( 14:54:26 ThuFeb 26 2004 )

WHen adding an assistant, what do I need to do in order for them to see the mod & admin forums? I have the Admin set on specified users, admins and have gave the member access but she cannot post...only read. And I have the mod forum set on mods/admins/specified users and its the same thing.

What do I need to do differently? Each forum is private & hidden. I've given access/hidden viewing to both but still nothing.

:thankyou:

If you've set the private forum's Posting Restrictions to Mods & Admins the easiest way to accomplish having your mods be able to access and there is to assign them as moderators of the staff forum which will give them access to it. You have to assign them as a moderator there for them to be able to enter and post inside if you have that Posting Restriction set to Mods & Admins. If you like you can choose to set the Posting Restrictions to Specified Users, Mods & Admins and then you can select the mods names from your userlist and on the select menu pull down to Assign Private Forum Access. When you have a private forum hidden you have to take this a step further and select them from the userlist and on the menu go down to Assign Hidden Forum Viewing Ability which also applies if you have forums you want some users to be able to see and others not to.

As for Assitant Admins, they would need to have access given to them using the method above for asigning posting ability.

Ok, I have already made the asst. and tried to give access to the forums after that. She can read but not post.

So I need to make her a moderator of those forums? Will that take away the asst. admin status?

She can have both Mod power and asst powers so if you assign her as a mod of the private forum you won't have to assign posting ability in edit users or the forum's posting restrictions as long as they are set to Specified Users Mods & Admins.
