user cannot get in due to security settings ( 21:41:17 WedAug 11 2004 )

Board Plan: Fixed

One of my users cannot get into our board-she gets this message:
'Your current IP doesn't match the security settings for the user you are logged in as. If you are legitimatly the user, please e-mail support@bbboy.net, from the e-mail address you signed up with.'

She is not banned by username or IP address by me. She's emailed support a couple times and hasn't gotten a response. I assume she activated something in her userCP security settings. Can you fix this? I've whispered her details below.

Hi anne123456,

BbBoy must have reset that for them because I don't see any security settings at all so it should be fine now. :smile:

If the security features were enabled I wouldn't have been able to log in at all. Something else must be going on-I did get the email and replied to it so maybe this member can log in again. :smile:

Okay, this is really odd. Now kerridwen2004's IP shows up on our banned list-it was not there yesterday when she first was having this problem. I don't have time to go through the logs now, but will try to investigate later how it got added.

However, I cannot unban it (like what happens if you have a leading space in the IP number). Could bbboy please unban the IPs below in the whisper?

Hi anne123456,

I will let BbBoy know-the odds are that someone left a space in when they did the ban, you should run a search for each username with admin powers and that will show you who did it. Just go with a process of elimination. I can't unban it but BbBoy can-having a space in the IP# usually at the end makes it impossible for anyone to unban except BbBoy which is why it's important to be certain you have only numbers and the "." when you do an IP ban. :smile:

Okay, I spoke to the other admin of my board. First, the user was unable to get in because of a security setting we now think (she was not banned by us). The other admin thought it might help if she banned kerridwen2004's IP and then unban it-but apparently left a space in the IP address! and now we can't unban!

A right mess :smile:
