AOL problem ( 01:04:28 TueMay 14 2002 )

Board Plan: IE 6.0 Netscape 4+

I have a client who regrettably uses AOL.

I refuse point blank to build websites/boards with AOL in mind (it is bad enough making sites look OK in both IE and Netscape ... and I refuse to put AOL on my machine!)

However, the client was unable to log on when he used his AOL browser. When I persuaded him to use his wife's PC (not AOL) he could log on without any problems. I presume this is something to do with cookies not being enabled on AOL. Has anyone had a similar experience. I tried to help him find a way to enable cookies on AOL but he couldn't find any reference to them.

Can you help me/him?

In AOL, cookies are automatically enabled and cannot be turned off.

What problem is he having? Getting any special error message? Had a look at the "Problems logging in?" thread at the top of this forum?

Thanks for the response. I guess I can't lay this one at the door of the dreaded AOL.

I looked at the login problem section.

His problem comes under "The board doesn't recognize me as logged in even when it says "logged in sucessfully"

I am pretty sure that he tried completely rebooting the machine but I'll double check.

Thaks again for your help.

Graham

If nothi9ng ewlse, you can still use IE even when using AOL. Just connect using AOL, then open an Internet Explorer window, and you can surf from there, if he's having troubles with AOL....
