Removing Edit function from members ( 17:49:20 ThuFeb 28 2002 )

I need to remove the edit function from our regular users and reserve it only for mods and admins.

How do I do this? Can't find that in the settings.

Thanking you in advance for help --

Click on "Edit Board Settings". There's the option "Disable User Edit". a bit below the long-post cut off.

Heh. If you want to answer questions, you should drop over to the
About This Message Board forum on our MB.

We have the world's most curious users and they will ask questions that one wouldn't think of in a million years!

Don't feel compelled to answer any or all of them - you'll be doing nothing else for weeks. But you might get some good ideas and feedback as you continue to develop your excellent product.

I was just thinking the very same thing as I was browsing this forum and seeing the many questions from the SDMB admins. Given the high traffic our MB gets, we're probably helping BbBoy and his minions by coming up with all these problems!

Ok, everytime I disable user edit, when I go back in the "edit board settings" screen the user edit is re-enabled. Users being re-enabled to edit their posts seems to be a new development since the upgrade. Any advice?

I just now (Monday 4 March 2002 7:34 PST California, USA) went into the admin -> board settings screen. The "disable user edit" box had no checkmark. I checked it and clicked on Submit. When I go back to that window, the box is again blank. Looks like the setting is not being saved.

This time (8:50 PST, California, USA) when I went to the board settings screen, the checkmark showed up (even before I changed anything!) Thank you.
