Re: header box
Others might know better, but my guess is that you will have too much water being directed into the sluice box and your gold recovery will suffer.

Re: header box
I wouldn't worry about what size the hose is to the header but what size the box is to the nozzle. Look at store bought dredges and see what the are offering. I know Keene has 5"/6" box that is like 20.5" wide and like 6' long that they use for both thier 5" and 6" dredges. Some will say a 20" box is way too narrow but Keen makes it work. Also, I have seen some guys take a 4" dredge (16" wide box) and make it a 5" and that is way too narrow for a 5" IMHO.

Also, watch the weight on the dredge - hate to sink it with all the extra weight.

Do you have enough HP and pump to pump a 6"?

So, ook at what is being done and copy that.

Hope this helps

Re: header box
better to go with a flared set up, if i'm understanding you correctly.
If you are flared already then the other guys have given you the right answers.
