I also know that not everyone can afford to give as much money as we would like. Therefore, I would like to start a program where those that can contribute some gold can also play the game. This is a similar event as the Pound of Gold drive we did last year. While we did not reach the pound mark we did bring in 3 ounces of nice placer along with other items to help with legal fund-raising. There were also some cash donationms that made it a very successful program. How about we do something like this again? If a bunch of us pitch in, maybe we can match Dave's three ounces to support the next legal drawing! On 2/3/11 gold closed at $1350.60/oz. That comes to basically $2.81 a grain! Dave has offered to issue drawing tickets (one for each $10 in value) in the ongoing legal drawing. I have run this idea by him, and he also thinks it is a great idea to issue tickets against our donations of gold. So, for about 4 grains (maybe less if prices go back up to where they were), you can get a ticket to win more gold. Where else do you have a chance to turn four grains of gold into a pennyweight, quarter-ounce or even a full ounce of gold? Once again, Montine in the office will be handling all of the gold. She and Myrna will make sure tickets get issued against our contributions, and will also send me updates so I can post our progress. Please send your CLEANED gold to: The New 49'ers., Attn Montine 27 Davis Road, P.O. Box 47 Happy Camp, California 96039 I cannot stress this enough: This year will be challenging to all miners and we need help from everywhere we can it! I know some gracious folks will give more; but I am hoping to see as many as possible give a little gold. We have done it before and we can do it again. Anything you guys can do is going to be greatly apprecearted! A few FAQS Who gets the gold? These contributions will help form up the prizes for the next New 49'er legal defense fund-raiser. Who handles the gold? Montine and Myrna at the New 49ers office. Can I send in scrap gold? Yes, just like last time. Can I send in cash? Absolutely How much is a grain of gold, anyway? There are 480 grains in a troy ounce of gold. This is a grain of gold:
