Its a big shock to me....I was thinking about getting one more dredge for my oldest son to work next year next to me, and this model is my personal and sons personal favorit...or was when it was afordable at under $4000.00. My son is 18 and is one H_ll of a dredger...yes I'm proud of this, one skill I was able to give him.

So suck it up and help your son to find the 4,000 before D&K raises the price back up to normal. You are on the gold or have been this summer. GOLD IS THE COMMODITY AND D&K WILL PROBABLY TALK GOLD FOR THE DREDGE. GOOD LUCK for the balance of the dredging time on the Rogue.

Get a Keene...better sluice box, better recovery, lower price.

Naaa, don't waste your money on Keene. If you want a dredge that will last and recover good gold, buy a Proline. ...... Jim

Keene...definetly cheeper in price and it has the low presure area (this is a plus), but you cant see at a glance what is going on becouse its barried at all times...this is an issue with the stack three stage. Proline no fine gold system( need a seperate low presure area to recover fine gold). I like the D&K side by side sluice style for better floatation and pump is super powerfull compared to compition and yes I can see at a glance what gold is being recoverd, and I dont have to take it apart to see the fine gold.
But 5000.00 is way too much money!!!!( not going to suck it up either) not happy with price. I will likly just make my own custom dredge like most have and spend far less than 5000.00, for a bare bones unit. johnnye4 |

I have a Keene 6" 3 stage and I have no prob. checking to see if I am getting gold , you just let box run clean water for a minute then idle down and you can check the black matt for gold...whats the prob.??

Rich,
The problem I have with Keene is they are not made as well as they use to be. There punps are made cheap and they leak, pullys have to be sized to the shaft and custom fit. They are a pain in the butt to assemble, to many nuts and bolts, parts don't fit. the craftsmanship and quality of the parts is just not as good as they where back in the 70's. Now take a good long look at a Proline dredge, they are built like a "Mack Truck", you can abuse them and they will still work, the quality of the material is top quality, the workmanship shows pride. They are easy and fast to assemble, and there punps are great !! And they have a great fine gold recovery system, your low pressure area is below the punch plate. Now the only other dredge that in my opion is better than a Proline, is a "Promack". If you can find a Promack, grab it up. |

well C.W. I bought mine back in 2000, has been a good dredge for me, I can`t argue with you cause I have only owned 2 dredges an both keene's a 4" and the 6".
They both have more than paid for them selfs many times over.....still gold out there to be found ![]() IF I could Only dredge again in Calif.

Keene's sluice in way better than Proline. Mine will catch minus 50 mesh easy...I have the gold to prove it.
I agree Rich, my Keene 6" is awesome and love the engineering that goes into them. Keene is not perfect but after seeing a few Proline's on the river this year with there flat sluice with horrible way to view your values after your dive, I'll stick with my keene's anyday. My black matt on my Keene catches so much gold I can guess how many DWT's I'll get just by looking at the gold on it, I'm usually within half dwt of the amount after cleanup. I have many pics of my black matt this year to show how much gold lays out on it...love it! And the Keene 3 stage box, well I'm a fan of it...If my upper misses some fines due to hogging the nozzel, I know for sure they'll be trapped in my lower 3rd stage with the low pressure zone there. Always nice fines there. No way I'd pay $7500 for a Proline 6...I got my Keene mini 6 for $5250 and paid for it 4 times over in gold. If I get 5 dwt of fines where I'm dredging now (applegate) at least one dwt of it will be minus 50 mesh...cant see the Proline box catching that...will get blown out. Nuff said.

Right on Bearkat, I have seen alot of youtube vid's of guys digging around in their dredge box, ,,and it has 2-3" deep of cons in it when they could have let the box clean out before they shut down ....go figure.

Hay Chickenlip Willie, I like your spirit (proline to the End)...but....they need a new box design. With the quality/craftsmanship you described, proline could do it. I don’t understand the arcadic mind set that proline has...If they where to say sell kits for their dredges to change the existing sluice then you could get more gold, 50 mesh gold lots more gold gold gold!!!! But then you would need more flotation to handle the heavier sluice...so a better pontoon would be needed also. New design for proline or they could go extinct. Just saying!?!?

Well you rookie beginer miners wouldn't know a good dredge if it fell on you.
First off bearcat, the only reason your Keene box has recovered good gold is because you have modified its recovery system to your personal standards. Second is because your are a very aggressive dredger, and you are tenacious in the way you prospect under water. Proline has one of the best boxes built, it is adjustable and can be set to the right pitch for good recovery. I have ran a suction dredge sense 1967, its not the dredge that finds the gold, its the person running the nosel, and how you set up your recovery system. Nice try Jonney4, I have had no problem setting up a Proline box recovery system and recovering good gold with it. If you set the box correctly for the type of pack that you are running, you will recover good gold, end of story. |

If a Proline dredge fell on me...you are right chickenlipheadwillie dude...I would think that it is a crappy dredge. Keene rules!

Dredging with a Keene dredge is like owning a Dodge or a Chevy, you never know when they are going to brake down and stop running !!

RLH1946: You are never going to win the argument with chickenlipwillie. I agree totally with you on the Keenes.
In reality, it makes no difference which dredge you own and operate. If you can adjust or modify to catch the gold that is the answer every time. Just look what the dredgers on the rogue have gone through to get the YELLAR. The only problem I have ever seen with the Keenes is to little flotation, and I have solved that personally. BEAMMAKER |

Well Rivraton I purchased 4 more floats and will assemble them with a modification of the boxes this winter. I do agree that OLD chickenlipwillie is an OK gentleman, and may those closer to him continue to harras him constantly.
Yes chickenlip, when are we going to have another auction contest???? Beammaker |

chickenlip_willie Offline 763 posts Reply |
Well beammaker, now that dredging season is coming to a close here in Oregon I will be starting the Legal Fund auctions back up soon.
The legal battle is still needing donations, as the fight goes on the need for money grows by the day. I will be putting up for auction some placer gold, small nuggets, and other items that have been donated. So keep a close eye on the legal fund auction site. ![]() |

CW is a very good friend also.
I got his back, well, I did. Until he insulted my Chevy truck, a 2 wheel drive that pulled a 4x4 Ford stuck on it's frame out of the ditch this summer. And the Ford driver only had Coors light beer???????????????? And my wife dredges with a Keene. Talk about getting stabbed in the back!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pro Line and Fords, what kind of beer do you drink? Colt 45 Didn't they make that stuff back in "67" cause, Way back in 1967 you didn't need a dredge. That was before dirt, you just picked up the gold, that's all there was in 67, Chickenlip and gold. |
|
chickenlip_willie Offline 763 posts Reply |
Unclemark, I have still got your back buddy, even though you drive a "Chevy Truck". I would tell you what "Ford" stands for, but this is a family forum. As for beer, I love "Bud". Hee Hee Hee !!
I suggest you get rid of that Keene and get Terry a 'Proline", so easy to assemble and use, great recovery, and built like a "Mack Truck". You are right about back in "67", the gold was so big all you had to do was pick the nuggets up with your fingers laying on bedrock. Hey, don't forget my rubber raft paddle, Dallas says he coming out next year to team up with me on the Rogue, about 250 feet back from where you where !! Jim ..... |
