New 49er Friends:
It's 6:20am Christmas morning and I'm enjoying a hot cup of Italian Roast coffee and enjoying the silence of our home. Still asleep are my wife & son (who flew home from California for Christmas). We'll be joining my daughters family at noon today (Christmas day). My kids are grown and life in my late 60's is a time of reflection upon the many blessings in my life. I share all of this to express how grateful I am for my introduction to gold mining some 3 years ago at a Happy Camp weekend with Dave Mack. Although I live in Minnesota, I spend much of my time reflecting on our gold prospecting efforts in past years and on the Klamath River this past August (2013). While there is a definite rush of excitement to separate gold flakes or pickers from planet earth, there is a warm glow which remains long after you pack up your gear and head home. Memories of long drives to Happy Camp; 110 degree heat which reminds you who is in charge; sharing the adventure with your family members; and really feeling "alive", because you are in the chase to find GOLD! I'm sure many of you understand what I'm trying to say as we are all part of the gold prospecting fraternity and I'm grateful for your friendship. Merry Christmas! Thanks for your thoughts and sharing your feelings with the rest of us Bill. I am sure that there are many others with the same sentiments and memories.
Here's looking forward to summer, warm weather, and good friends.

Ginny & I want to wish all a merry Christmas & a(golden) prosperous new year. We are in the process of building a new home on 16 acres on the Klamath river we acquired in seiad Valley (just below the bridge on SW side.) We are looking forward to becoming more involved with the "New 49ers" in the future. At 67, this is a major change for us. MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL. Michael & Ginny (minermike)
