Topic: Klamath River Project Exposed by Whistle Blower! Posted: 15 Jan 2014 at 5:48pm Dr. Paul Houser, Bureau of Reclamation's science advisor/science integrity officer fired, for exposing systematic scientific and scholarly misconduct relating to the Klamath River Dam Removal Project. Kira Finkler, Deputy Commisioner of the Bureau of Reclamation, Dr. Houser's boss and to whom he brought these allegations recommended he be fired. Finkler who was employed by Trout Unlimited from 2004 to 2007, is overseeing the Klamath River Restoration Project. Trout Unlimited is a signatory to the Klamath River Project, creating a major conflict of interest. Finkler told Dr. Houser "First of all, the Secretary wants to remove those dams, so your actions here arn't helpful, they aren't helping the Department to meet it's goals." She also stated "I support the idea of not making discoverable documents, you have created a trail that could be discovered" the latter was in reference to the way Dr. Houser handled the issue, ie; emails and written complaints sent by Dr. Houser. The United States Bureau of Reclamation (USBR), and formerly the United States Reclamation Service (not to be confused with the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement), is a federal agency under the U.S. Department of the Interior, which oversees water resource management, specifically as it applies to the oversight and operation of the diversion, delivery, and storage projects that it has built throughout the western United States for irrigation, water supply, and attendant hydroelectric power generation. Currently USBR is the largest wholesaler of water in the country, bringing water to more than 31 million people, and providing one in five Western farmers with irrigation water for 10 million acres of farmland, which produce 60% of the nation's vegetables and 25% of its fruits and nuts. USBR is also the second largest producer of hydroelectric power in the western United States.[3]---WIKI
It appears the USB of Reclamation has reinvented itself. While it's duties and responsibilities are noble, it's employees (5,400) actually decide where and how to spend it's annual budget of $1,170,000,000. What was created as a benefit to civilization now can justify it's existence by reclaiming it's own reclamation projects which are deemed counter to current political standards. Job security. Our own CDFW is an exact clone. |
