Hey all, I am an new member and spent a month at Happy Camp (Elk Creek RV Camp) last summer. Had a good time and met lots of interesting and friendly people and found a little gold. Unfortunately will not be able to return this year due to getting a job I couldn't turn down. It is easier than prospecting and pays better, but is not as much fun!
Anyway, the gold followed me to my new job in New Mexico at Los Alamos National Lab. Linked is an article about how large specimens of gold are analyzed to see if they are single crystals. The 218 gram specimen was deemed legit but the trapezohedral crystal was found to be probably man made. Read the article and click on the short video link, it is pretty cool. Good luck to all, Carl (Suburban with Utah plates) http://www.lanl.gov/newsroom/news-releases/2014/April/04.07-single-crystal-of-gold-verified.php |

The narrative was well over my level of intelligence but those pictures sure look nice... Wish they had mentioned where it was found... thanks for posting it!
