Several of our most experienced prospectors converged down below Happy Camp a few days ago. The mission was to locate a brand new place to conduct our weekend group high-banking projects. We used my boat to gain access to the far side of the river on one of our newer mining properties located about 9 miles downstream of Happy Camp. You can see the location here:
http://www.goldgold.com/k-23aa-a-d-3-gold-claim.html It took us about an hour to make the strike, and then another 30 minutes to confirm it. The location is producing as much as 30-to-100 colors to the pan. It's all fine so far, but they really add up fast. It is very exciting! I will follow with more details in the June newsletter. The purpose of this thread is to remind you that our first weekend project is scheduled to begin this Saturday, 31 May. We meet at our office at 9 AM. The event (free) is open to all active members of The New 49'ers. Please call the office in advance and let us know you are coming: 530 493-2012. Bring a vack machine if you have one! We will get everyone safely across the river. It is all lining up like we are going to have a blast! I hope to see you guys on the river this summer! |

Looks awesome Dave...
Wish I could be there... In the interest of accuracy, did you mean Saturday at 9 AM? Tom

Yes Tom, it was a typo. It is 9:00am
I'll change it in Dave's post.

Thanks Dave for the amazing day! I can't believe how much gold we found over such a large area. Like I told you, we found more gold in that trip than we did in doing the assessment work for our private claims. I will dredge that area when dredging comes back.
Looking forward to next weekends after report not only for the gold, but the recovery methods you are going to use. If anyone is going I strongly suggest bringing a Vac Pac of some kind. At the very least everyone should have a stiff 3" paint brush to work all of those cracks. A good little garden or mini pick also a must ratled |
