WPMA has a claim here on the Klamath, also a couple in OR and lots in Washington. They are very reasonable at $65.00 for the first year and $50.00 thereafter. If I wanted to try WA for any kind of Prospecting, I believe I'd visit their website for current information. Washington has been fighting an ongoing mining law battle which will likely and soon be a court battle. They too have some people of the state who wish to control the population from doing ANYTHING in the out of doors. Another state where the elected is trying to bring about change - They want everyone out of the back country. Saw a bumper sticker that said: I'll keep my Freedom, Money and Guns - You can keep the Change. (I need to find one of those). Bill |

Here's at least one place you can find the bumper sticker. I have purchased many items from them over the years and have never been disappointed with the quality of an item I received. You can get mugs and other things personalized with your pictures as well.

I dredge here in Washington. I have my own claims and must apply for a special dredge permit each year from Fish & Wildlife to work outside the approved "work windows". By filing a JARPA permit, you can obtain an HPA that allows dredging outside the new "work window". Creeks and rivers are open to panning and sluiceing, but if you want to dredge, you need to send for the new Gold and Fish pamphlet issued by Fish & Wildlife. Penalties are severe for dredging in areas out of the approved work windows.
Don't get discouraged.......... As mentioned above, Washington Prospector's Mining Asso. has a web site that will direct you on how to obtain the new Gold & Fish pamphlet. The new G&F pamphlet is not perfect, but it's much better than what we had, other than the new "work windows", which are more restrictive. As far as area's to dredge? Most good areas are claimed, as with anywhere, but as also mentioned, Washington Prospector's has lot's of claims to dredge. Apply early for your dredge permit, it's free. A dredge permit is only required should you want to work an area during the closed portion of the approved times allowed in the work windows. So if you want to dredge during the allowed "work windows", no dredge permit is required. Confusing I know, but I hope this helps. David |

David, I also live in Washington and would like to talk to you about your claims. I dredge the new 49er claims every summer for a couple weeks but it is never enough. E-mail me if you would like to talk more.
Thanks, ezdave goldendf@msn.com |
