I have been looking for a decent place to take my dredge this summer rather than the Yuba. What size dredge did you guys run up there. It looks like you may have had a 5" or a 6". I have a 6" but am concerned about the 4" nozzle restricion unless a person has a permit to use larger sizes. My question is is your team going back there this summer to dredge and what size will you be operating? In order to avoid proplems are you going to reduce your nozzle ring size to 4"? I have many more questions and I am sure other members are thinking of some as well.

Hey there Whisco,

I think we are on own own as far as the "team" goes. But alot of them will be back. I was using my 6" keene. I have a 4" but I will nozzel down the six with an attachment on the end from 6-4. Craig is gonna build me one. It will be easy to take on and off.

I might convert my 4" into a highbanker type thingy if we cant get in the water in Ca by May.

Here's a link to get one (seems like the only one at this time, but thats a whole different bag of worms) of the permits needed in Oregon:

http://www.statelandsonline.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=Placer.Home

It seems to me that I read about a horsepower rule but can't find it right now. Let's just hope you can dredge the yuba this year. It's a great river, always wanted to try it but pretty much claimed up. Any suggestions....smile.

Bearkat,
I am interested in your attachment for your six inch nozzle. Could you describe how you are making it? I have thought up options but one needs to keep in mind the water required to keep the sluice operating properly. Does the law mean we can only allow 4 inch rocks to go up the nozzle? If that is the case we can weld or make an attachment to have a 4" ring with legs to bridge the gap from the main 6" nozzle. This setup will allow water and sediment to go up the nozzle yet we still will not be moving rocks larger than 4".

I have never dredged the Yuba myself just Canyon Creek but have seen areas I would love to. Time will tell when we may dredge CA again. Legally

Alls you have to do is go to the Oregon State Department of Lands web site and you can get the placer mining regs there and also apply for your free permit which takes all of 5 to 7 minutes and approval is easy if you are running a 4inch or smaller.Mine was approved 40 seconds after submitting and I just printed it off right there and signed it.Pretty simple.

wiseco161,

Oregon only is issuing one permit this year (see link above). Calif. isn't the only state in limbo right now. From what I've read it seems impossible to know for sure what the immediate future is for larger dredges than 4 inch (and appears 16 hp. max).

When I first saw the video I thought the new Rambo movie was coming out:eeekyellow: But yeah I live in Medford now and the news paper says they will be removing the Gold Ray xxxx this summer. They have given the public 30 days to respond, even the greenies agree that it would be benifical:whoohoo:
