When I was at HC Tuesday I failed to ask if I could travel on the river instead of having to go every where in my truck. I will be staing at Elk Creek. I would be using a jon boat.

The Klamath has a lot of shallow areas and a lots of rocks that would make traveling any distance by boat seriously exciting and time consuming. If you were working less than 2 miles down river from town you could run from the mouth of Elk down and back. However you would still need to drive to the mouth, about 1 mile from the campground and leave your car unattended. Anywhere else you should plan on using the boat only to cross the river. One other note. The Klamath is swift near most claims and can be very dangerous, specially if you lose your engine at a bad time. Every year we have club members that get into trouble and have very religious experiences.
