Petition for Emergency Rule-making ( 15:23:54 TueJan 6 2009 )

You guys might want to spread the word that our adversaries are at it again; this time, with a Petition for Emergency Rule-making
to the California Department of Fish & Game to impose suction dredge restrictions.

I will follow shortly with an Action Plan.

Here we go again. Geez, all those creeks thet listed even the Karuks dont live up in the Salmon or Scott areas. They just hate miners. I cant even get back into the National Forest where I live now (Ashland Or) as it is all closed off except for foot traffic and that is closd in some areas. We can win this one though. Would be nice not to have to put up with this stuff for at least one Mining season.

Our adversaries have turned their propaganda machine into high gear. Here are a few of their articles:

Placer Land Trust

The Times-Standard

YubaNet.com

Our team has also been very, very busy!

Our Lobbyists managed to easily overcome the Karuk attempt to kill State funding for un updated Environmental Impact Statement to support suction dredging regulations in California. Here is an update on that from Pete Conaty.
Here is the formal response from our attorneys to the Karuk Application for Emergency Regulations.

I am holding off a few more days before putting out an Action Alert, mainly because Jim Yerby is energetically turning up industry contributions for a new prize drawing. He already has commitments for a nice dredge from Pro-line, a great high-banker/dredge combo from Louie Welding, $500 in gift certificates from Chip Hess, he has a good shot at some metal detectors, and is turning up some other goodies! If anyone would like to contribute a prize towards the drawing, please contact Jim at <grizzwag@charter.net>.

This one is really going to be about raising money to pay our specialists to do important things for us (right now). Our lobbyists are already in full gear; our attorney will be in Sacramento for us (along with others) next week. We are at full steam on this one, because the Department of Fish & Game will make a formal Decision concerning Emergency Regulations within the next 2 weeks!

Note that the Application also concerns key gold bearing rivers in the Mother lode area.

Defeating this latest assault is mainly going to be about raising money. It would be very helpful if you guys could contribute as best you can, as soon as you can. The girls in our office will automatically create a single prize drawing ticket for each $10 in contribution that we receive (no limit to how many prizes any single person can win).

There is a Paypal link (click on "Donate" ) at the top of this page to make it easy. Or you can contact our office at (530) 493-2012.

I will follow with more details in several days. Meanwhile, thanks for whatever you guys (and gals) can do to help support us in overcoming this dangerous situation!

Here are some very persuasive arguments that Jim Foley made to the State of California in support of suction dredgers; telling it like it is!!
