I always stayed at Elk Creek campground during the summer. Very friendly, centrally located, and reasonably priced. (I was pulling a 36 foot trailer)

The club has a claim up Indian Creek that is not to far from Happy Camp. Nice camping and I would think that you could get in and out just fine.

Bob,
Take a look at the info for Indian Creek on the 49er's web page, are you a member. Also, I was going to send a Private message but your e-mail on your post does not match the one in your profile

Perhaps there are two campsites along Indian Creek. The one I'm referring to has several nice camp sites amonst the trees with easy (walkable) access to the creek. It also had a port-a-s****r. There, I believe, are several claims, a couple further up the road. Nice area. (Don't know if he's still hanging around but had a fairly large bear cross the road in front of me...seemed friendly enough but keep your food stored properly).

Hi Bob,

Here are the long term free (dry) camping areas available to you along the Klamath River and its tributaries. You can take as much water as you want at our office in Happy Camp. There are paid dumping options at some of the private camping facilities. Montine will know where: 530 493-2012.

And here are the private camping options.

We are looking forward to seeing you!

Where do people who stay there year round or in months besides the ones listed, stay? Is there anywhere that boondocking can be done any time of year?

You must be actively mining to stay in club long term camping areas longer than two weeks.

I do not know of any public "boondocking" areas that are open year round.

There use to be some on the coast, hwy 101 north of big lagoon, north of Eureka CA. but the BLM closed those areas years ago.

Lets use the appropriate words here. By boondocking, do you mean dry camping (no hook-ups) in an RV??????

The other issue is the winter weather along the Klamath river is a mix of rain and snow and is bone chilling at times. The water levels can change rapidly with rain fall and snow melt. I have personally seen 6ft changes overnight.
