Identification of Older Spiral Wheel? ( 08:36:45 WedSep 19 2007 )

Okay, here goes…My local prospecting club had their annual swap meet last night, and I saw an item that interested me, but someone else had already made arrangements to purchase it.

It was a spiral wheel(with a hole in the middle), I would guess it was made in the mid to late 70’s, possibly early 80’s. It was 18” in diameter, had a stand(stood about two feet high), and the wheel/bowl was stainless steel, with a flat, black rubber insert that had two leads, and only covered the bottom of the bowl. (The rubber insert had no vertical wall.) It had no manufacturer’s label, tag, anything on it.

Does anyone remember these, and what company made them? Do you by chance have one that you would like to sell?

Greg

Sounds like one that I have.

Mine has been converted(so I was told) to 110 volt.

Rarely use it since I got a shaker table.

Where are you, I could send some pictures...

LipCa,

I'm down south, in San Diego County. If it's okay with you, send me an e-mail at gregnterrones@cox.net.

Thanks.

Greg

C.L. Willie,

Thanks also.

Gold Hound sounds right and it was manufactured in the early eighties. The spiral mat is glued in to the bowl and has a tendency to hold gold around the edges where it is glued down. I would recommend you looking for a Gold Genie. They have excellent recovery in their 18” injection molded bowl along with some other nice features. If you can find a used one, the bowl has a lifetime guarantee on it.

Chip.
