I am a full time rv'er and am looking to move to the Happy Camp area, I am looking to purchase a small home or vacant lot with possible land contract or owner financing. I have down payment and excellent references. I really hate having to leave Happy Camp every fall and am looking for a place to call home and establish my self locally as a general contactor. Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks!! To all my fellow 49'ers. |

IF you're looking for a nice quiet home close to the river, check with Alaska Jim. He has one very reasonably priced for that area, for sale there in Hamburg. Roughly 30 miles or so upriver from H/C

I have seen Alaska Jim's house and it sure is beautiful but I am affraid it might be a bit more than I can afford till I have time to find work in the area, I already learned the hard way that gold mining is a hobby and not any way to make a living so I am looking to establish myself as a skilled carpenter and builder. Thanks for your help though and tell Jim "nice place he's got there."

Come on out. The area can always use skilled tradesmen. However, this area is seriously depressed so plan to compete with everybody with an hammer and a wore out minivan. Very few people will pay for quality work. Starting a quality operation will take quite a while and the income will be slow.

Hey Bud,
Gold prospecting can be a GREAT way to make a living. It's al;l in where and how you apply yourself! Never say die! I'm trying to get healthy enough to get back to it fulltime myself, did pretty well for 9.5 yrs! took a ten yr break now I'm trying to come back. Talk to dave! He doesn't know me, but he knows his mining! Good luck and God Bless! okee aka waya55 |

Thanks for the support, we have met a couple times in the last couple years and you have always been able to put a positive spin on things, I am showing up with an bigger hopes and dreams this year and plan to attack th UK with an 8" and see if I can put my hammer away. If that doesn't work than I guess I will start small with decks porches and additions and remodels and such, I don't need much to survive and feed the dog so I guess you could say I am flexible, I just don't want to leave H.C. anymore.
