Capable, wants to mine, Free Labor ( 22:26:00 TueJun 12 2012 )

Greetings All,

I'm seriously considering becoming a member of the New 49er's. I have no experience gold mining, only prospecting with metal detectors, and some commercial and sport diving. I would eventually like to buy equipment and a claim, but think joining this group would be the best possibility to gain knowledge and experience before making any large investments. That said; Are there any miners/dredgers that would like an apprentice this summer. I would work for free, at least until you decided I was irreplaceable or your conscience dictated otherwise. I have a lot of resources; Motor home, enduro, 4x4, trailer, tools, scuba gear, weights and a great work ethic, with lots of remote field experience. I own my own business, so I can pretty much write my own schedule for the time being. I'm under no illusions about getting rich doing this, but I do like the outdoors, lifestyle, and the idea of the possibility of the rewards.
I would also consider investing in some equipment if I got with the right group of people and it would assist in the operation.
I live in Ashland, Oregon, so North or South is easy for me. Let me know guys, as far as I can tell it's a win-win proposal.
I welcome any feed back you all may have. Thanks

Sincerely,
Mike

Hello Mike, welcome to the forum. Not sure if the triple posting is necessary though?!!
I'd recommend joining the New 49'ers club. Go to a couple of the group outings until you get the gist of it, then you'll have the knowledge of where to go on your own. It is a great way to learn fast. You eliminate so many obstacles and learn the right way to locate a paystreak without having to make "all" the mistakes yourself. Most of the old timers have done that for us.. This saves you so much time, time you can spend actually mining.
You're lucky your in Oregon, several new claims just opening up to Members along the Rogue and South Umpqua Rivers. Only place to dredge pretty much in the USA, besides Alaska, if that is what you're into.
Lots of claims to surface mine in California.. All will produce some gold..
Try an associate membership if you're not sure you want to commit to the lifetime membership. It's well worth every penny you spend.
Again.. WELCOME

Just want to add my 2 cents: Don't forget highbanking. You can get into it reasonably and you can purchase a highbanker/ dredge combination at good prices. There is a lot of quality used equipment on Craigs List.

Welcome to the forum and good luck!

Ben
