Boxers - A woman's best friend??
My last boxer was very much a mummy's girl and definitely prefered the company of women to men. In fact I would go as far as to say she was wary of men and trusted women in preference - we had to make sure she had a female vet at all times so that she would consent to being treated!!

I thought that Katie's preferences were more to do with the fact that she was with me 99.9% of the time, whilst the children went to school and hubby went away alot.

I have discovered though, that Sasha is a mummy's girl too - much to the disgust of my children!! I am not the one who feeds her, I rarely play with her and my hubby is the main one that walks her, but despite all this she is at my feet, it's me she wants to cuddle with and it's me she responds to the most???!!!!

The children get really frustrated if they are having a lovely cuddle with Sasha and I walk in the room, because she will leave them and come straight to me. If I am the last one upstairs, she will wait at the top of the stairs for me to come down!!

What about everyone else - do you think boxers naturally lean towards being a girl's best friend, or do I just have two mummy's girls!!???

Polo is more mine than hubby's, I tell him it's because he left the dog-training classes more to me, then our youngest daughter took over when they started agility classes. It's funny as Polo only plays rough with Bill, very occasionally with the girls when they get him really silly, but with me he is much more gentle. He also reacts differently when he is out walking just with me than when he is out with both of us or with Bill on his own :roundnround:

It's funny you have brought this up. Both Blue and Sasha are mummy's dogs! I thought it was because with Blue I was the one that got up during the night to let him out ect but Sasha is exactly the same! because we dont have a full history on Sasha I thought it was because I was the one that picked her up and brought her home. Now I'm not so sure.
Most of the dogs we get into rescue are more womens dogs. Could it be that men are bad to them? Not sure. On a whaole I would say boxers tend to be womans dogs. (lucky us)

Polo's also funny if he's sat in 'my' place on the settee he gets up straight away, almost as if to say 'I've just been warming it for you!' - he doesn't do it for anyone else :roundnround:

Oh yes, Daz is a mummy's boy.
He loves his dad, but he is in every way mine, I can not walk backwards.

I have to admit although I know they love me, if my three they had to choose it would be Joe not me, Joe is a total natural with all sorts of animals.
If they want out they go to Joe, if they want treats they come to me-mmm i wonder why!

I think that is the glory with Boxers, they do have their special "person" but love everyone else too with gay abandonment. They always know they come back to "mum" though!

Our three are definately mummy's girls when it comes to everything, except Tia prefers to play with Brendan (She likes to play that little bit rougher). From when Henry was about six weeks old he used to follow me absolutely everywhere and still lays at my feet wherever i am, even though the other two are on the comfy sofa, he prefers to be on the floor by me. (I think he wants to make sure i can't get up and go anywhere without him noticing)!!

I think the reason ours are all mummy's girls though is because i am the one that feeds them most of the time because Brendan does shift work. But Brendan does give them just as much attention in the times that he is home.

Boxers just love their mummy's!!!!!

MOlly is Daddys girl - to the extent that if I am away with work she sits by the back door all night and ignores Lynne. Tash however is Lynnes dog through and through even though I walk them, feed them, bath them, dry them off etc etc she still prefers Lynne!!

Talking of sofas they both have a cuddle before bed and both always go to the same person Molly to me and Tash to Lynne - never the other way around.

As far as strangers are concerned Tash is not bothered either way Male or Female and Molly is anti-male, she is very wary of new Males and even puts herself between Lynne and my Dad - strangers just get growled at and are not aloud in the house until I tell her it's OK unless your female of course in which case you get big kisses.
