what do i do???
lilly was ran over by a truck when she was 6 months old....the worst of it was a broken pelvis. we didnt have the bars put in as we didnt want her to have such bad arthritis withing 6 months cuz they cant guarentee a perfect match up n theyd rub, so we had them to cut the head off her leg bone that goes into the hip socket, and it grows back cartiledge.......so shed still get arthritis, but instead of bone on bone, its bone on cartiledge and not as much pain....the only time u can even tell is when its super cold outside shell lift that leg. ever since we got her fixed shes put on some weight.....and has become pretty bitchy. liberty lovse to play with chili, lays on her, tackles her etc, well she was doing it to lilly yesterday and i removed her once and then she started to do it again and lilly warned her and she kept on doing it n lilly bit her. now mind u lilly has always walked away, shell growl and then leave the scene. we cant have her biting the kids, thats a huge nono. she KNOWS she did wrong and appologized >licked her to death!< is there something u guys know of i can give her if its her leg causing her pain? i love my lilly pie n i dont want to give up on her n shes part of the family, but cant have her eating the kids....what can i do...need some help here big time!!!

Re: what do i do???
You will have to teach the children to give Lili her own space. If they wont leave her alone, you need to put her somewhere away from the children until they lose interest in her. Any animal if in pain will react in a way to protect itself, you admit Lili warned Liberty, at that stage it would have been wise to have removed Lili from the room. Is she crate trained and does she have a crate? That would be the ideal place to put her away from the children. What age is Liberty? Have you tried taking her to one side and explain to her that if she hurts Lili, Lili will nip her?

Rosie has arthritis in her hips and spine. She gets Glucosamine everyday. Morning and evening. As a general rule you give adult dogs half the dose of what a adult human would have.

Firstly though I think you should visit the vet and see what he says about her leg. Arthritis is a very bad pain [I speak from experience] and is hard to live with so I can understand if Lili is grumpy when one of the children hurt her.

I hope you get it sorted out for everyones sake but firstly before you do anything you need to sort out an area where Lili can go to be away from the children for both her own sake and theirs - at least until you have been to the vet and see what the situation is with her leg.

I would see a vet and get her pain under control and teach the children to leave her be.

Good luck!!

Re: what do i do???
Liberty is 3.

she gets told almost daily that she cannot hang on lilly the same way she does chili and that lilly has a booboo when she hangs on her it hurts her and she will bite her if she gets hurt. we do have a crate for lilly, well, they share crates...we have 1 downstairs and 1 upstairs for when we sleep, the other is usually if im feeding abigail or doing something i cant keep my eye on chili....but lilly gets put in there too at times. i emailed our trainer so hopefully she has some advice tom will listen to.
