Heat has been unbearable here. I had to go to town this morning and the dogs had to come too, long story, which I won’t go into. Got up early and had the dogs out around 7.00ish but not too far as it was warm even at that hour. Got out by 08.00am and headed up to town where there was not a breath to be had. The way back home was horrendous. I do have a special fan set up in the back specifically for the dogs and of course all the windows were wide open, but even so it was so hot. Of course every set of traffic lights on the journey turned to red! Little Katie was okay, she didn’t even pant much but poor Rosie was very bothered by the heat. I had packed ice in cool bags with water/towels in the event that should we have to I could have pulled the car over and soaked the towels to help cool them down. I had planned [been invited] to call at a friend's on the way back but all I wanted to do was to get the dogs home and into a cooler atmosphere. There is one thing about a house/cottage built of stone, it does retain a certain amount of coolness about it although even in this heat it was hard pushed to do so. Spent some time in the latter part of the afternoon out in the garden with the dogs, they were still hot and bothered even in the house so I set the hose up on the “spray” setting and let them dart in and out underneath it which they loved and got thoroughly soaked! Made sure that ears/head etc were nicely dried off and then let them dry off naturally. I sat in the shade with them. Good thing about trees – they do provide shade from the sun, and shelter from the rain! Really hope tomorrow isnt so hot. Helen |

I know what you mean though Helen, I hate having to take Sasha in the car when it is this hot - luckily we have air con in the car, but even so, it just feels so claustraphobic with the sun and the heat - no escape! Hope they have both fully recovered from their journey and that it is cooler for them today. Our weather says that yesterday was the hottest for this week and that it will cool down throughout rest of week. Heading off to the beach today for a few hours, but Sasha will stay at home. |

I wouldn't dream of leaving ours in the car for any amount of time - windows open or air conditioning....... Tia and kirei are a bit wary of the fan indoors but Henry is sensible and will lay right in front of it. I prefer the winter when you can turn up the heating and watch the cold weather through the window. And have a lovely boxer dog snuggle on the sofa!!!!!!! Caroline, Tia, Kirei and Henry Monster xxxx |

Makes me so cross - he said that he hoped he made someones good day go bad because they deserved it! Someone should stick them in a car for 20 mins without the windows open in this heat! We havent had Sasha in the car since Sat, waiting for it to cool down! |
