Heskey the Terrible
Heskey has just had his "bits" removed and up until then had been a perfectly happy but decidedly mad dog. Could happily go to work knowing he would sleep all day to conserve his energy for bouncing and doing the wall of death when we got home.

Since his op he has taken to turning into Heskey the destroyer of all things not nailed down. Hats are his speciality (oh and removing eyes and ears from teddy bears) - hes also partial to emptying all the contents of handbags and spreading them throughout the house.

Do you recon the anaesthetic addled his brain???
On a better note, had a bit of a race night party on Saturday and he behaved like a perfect gent - he only bounced on a few people and drooled on a few more (saying that he did manage to swipe a chicken leg off Mikes plate)

Oh well, back to putting the radio on when we go out and having to tidy up (argghhh - dont you just hate housework!!)

Re: Heskey the Terrible
Ah the joys of boxer ownership!!

It could be worse Liz - tash used to empty the ktchen cuboards of their contents, once it was dried foods (pasta, rice etc) not content with spreading it all over the floor she pooed and peed on it for good measure!!!

I have to say that we were novice boxer owners at the time and were confining Molly and Tash to the kitchen, now I look back and shake my head at our naievity. Now they have the run of the house and are great!!

Sounds like Heskey has receeded in mental age / behaviour slightly - sounds like Mair when the baby came along, potty training went out of the window - thankfully back on track now though.

Good luck - I bet Heskey looks lovely wearing a chewed up hat, well he thinks so anyway.

Good luck and thanks for making me laugh, Paul

Re: Heskey the Terrible
Have returned from work today to absolute mayhem. The little treasure had taken it upon himself to shred a rather magnificent castor oil plant and then dig up the soil all over the front room, chew up a bag of spuds, spread cherries from one end of the house to the other, eat a book, chew up a clematis outside and chew the outside candles, remove all the cushions off the sette and then dig for australia on the settee, ruining the removable covers. Having ignored him while i set about the mamoth task of cleaning (again) i took him to the field for a run, and run he did, off into the distance!! (fortunately he also ran back!). So i can only assume that not only did the op addle his brain, it also rendered him deaf! Hes now cuddled up to Mike on the settee looking like butter wouldnt melt in his mouth! Do you think Jacquie would like him back???? (Just Kidding although any offers of valium- for me-would be gratefully accepted!!) Oh well lets see what the little treasure gets up to tomorrow!

Oh the joys!! I think Heskey is punishing you for getting his bits removed - you know how sensitive men are about these parts of them!!

Bless him, he makes Sasha sound like an angel - I won't complain about her again!

Candles were a favourite of Sasha's too - especially scented ones! After my last girl, I removed all plants after having them repotted on various occasions.

Like Pat says, it's what makes us love 'em!

I am beginning to think that boxer owners should have a free lifetime's supply of valium with each boxer they own!!

Like Yvonne says, a sense of humour and a boxer go hand-in-hand, although so does grey hair, laughter lines and chaos!!!

Re: Heskey the Terrible
OOOOOOh just have to share the good news - we think the little darling could be cured!!! Came home tonight (having dragged my heels and hoping Mike got in before me-he did!) to hear that Heskey hadnt chewed, demolished or dug up anything!!! And do you want to hear what the magic cure is........a rubber ball on a piece of rope!
Had a brain storm this morning while eating breakfast (not my best time of day!) Realised hed lost his oh so favourite ball (not the kind the vet removed!)-gave him the one we keep hidden for emergencies (i.e. hes run off after another dog and lost it on the way) and hey presto! Cured!!!! Bet you wont find that one in the dog training manuals. And yes Paul i was laughing, but i think it was edging on the hysteria!!!!!! Oh well of to the pub tonight for a pint to celebrate (well seems like a good excuse to me!)

Sounds like you hit the jackpot!!! Just make sure he has plenty balls ! (couldn't resist) Have you got any kongs? They are brilliant for keeping there attention and stops boardom. They will spend hours trying to get the treat out. Am I sick or what? It does work though.

Oh well folks, its back to the drawing board! (that will teach me to be so cocky!!!) Spuds, cabbage and carrots it was today, one tail-less eyore and another dig for Australia in the settee. Yes he has been to the pub with me, and managed to get banned on his first visit as he ended up in a scrap with a black lab (the lab started it). Both dogs got banned but theyre now allowed back in as long as they dont go in together! Fortunately Tucker is moving home soon as he was flooded out in January! All i can say is thank god its Friday and im home all weekend.

Here was me thinking Heskey would be a huge hit ( pardon the pun)down the pub, sorry Liz but just imagining a boxer getting himself barred from a pub really conjures up lots of different hilarious scenerios, you poor thing, you have my sympathy Liz but you have one funny boxer

You didnt cross things hard enough....oh my poor plant!! Still less damage than last time, i think it might survive.

Oooh if he didnt look at me with those puppy eyes i think i could get more than a little bit cross. (actually if you look at him a certain way, his eyes are a bit like Marty Fellmans:..for those of you old enough to remember who he is!)

Re: Heskey the Terrible
Its definately the revenge thing! Mike took him out yesterday morning before setting off for Scotland to visit his son. I got up half an hour after he'd left to find the spider plant strewn across the back sitting room, and a very guilty dog who had just been caught in the process of emptying Mikes briefcase! Dog was sent out via the dog flap to sit outside and consider his sins!! Oooh hes a little bugger who is just out for mischief.....and yep when he does the Mart Felman look he gives me the creeps toooo! (mainly cos i know hes contemplating his next bout of destruction!!!!!)
